Housekeeping entered my room before we had checked out (we had moved our things out of the room already, but were planning to go back into the room later in the morning to continue using the room).
I didn’t speak the housekeeper’s language, and for whatever reason, she continued turning down the room even though I was in there trying to let her know that I hadn’t checked out yet. Using the room phone to call the front desk was fruitless as their phone kept ringing and ringing and no one answered. I had to call the hotel’s 800 number from my cell phone in order for someone to answer me.
Despite their assurance that a housekeeping supervisor would stop by to tell the housekeeper to stop cleaning the room, several more minutes went by without any response. So I used the room phone again and found a button to call housekeeping, who sounded surprised when I told her of the situation.
To the housekeeping supervisor’s credit, she showed up within moments and was able to get the housekeeper to leave my room.
I don’t understand why the hotel’s policy is for housekeeping to continue their duties despite the guest returning back to their own room. And it was frustrating that no one answered at the front desk.
