We were welcomed very warmly and were told a wedding was held that night, which was fine. We couldn't hear the party from our room so that was good, I'll come back to that later.
Upon entering our room, we noticed it was very lived down. It didn't feel clean, paint was chipping from the door, carpet was filthy, mold in the bathroom, the bed linnens didn't feel fresh, it was hot.
There was a note saying we shouldn't open the windows because of flies, which we totally get. However, when you know the rooms can get hot (it's an old hotel, that shouldn't come as a surprise), there's no airconditioning (which wasn't stated correctly everywhere), you would expect decent alternatives to cool down. There was a tiny fan that was so loud, we thought it would lift off any second.
Back to the wedding. At 22h30, fireworks were set off on the parking lot. Right next to our room. I can not state enough how angry that made me. We brought our dog with us. It took us 2 hours to calm her down. How dare you state on your website that the hotel is dog friendly? We took time to research hotels that weren't part of a big chain, and were dog friendly. I went to the lobby to complain and they stated "we told you a wedding was going on". Again, I'm fine with a wedding, but who in their right mind thinks it's okay to set off fireworks next to a hotel with dogs, probably sleeping children. This was one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had and will never recommend your place to anyone.
