Really liked Keswick, close to lots of walks / hikes. Easy to get bus other places in the area. Lots of good cafes, pubs, restaurants and were busy so created nice buzz on an evening. Great choice of shops also. Would definitely visit again.

We took a walk up to Latrigg, a viewpoint that overlooks Keswick, Derwent Water and Bassenthwaite. It's only an hour or so up and down and the ascent and decent aren't too difficult.

"The new owners have retained the character and comfort of the Royal Oak but have improved the facilities. The food was nice but I don’t understand why veg and potatoes are charged extra. "
"Staff were very helpful, the rooms were clean, everything worked well, breakfast was very good. 15 minute walk into Keswick for restaurants/bars etc. "
"Perfect find fir a few nights away with the bonus of parking in Keswick!!
Hotel was beautiful and certainly above the ‘stars’ given.
Bedrooms were massive and tastefully decorated. Breakfasts were amazing and plenty of it.
Some decor dated bit the staff certainly made up for any of that. .. Kind, professional, knowledgable, engaging abd with a sense of humour. …. Certainly a credit to Hotel.
Hotel has recently been modernised bit nit lost its Victorian charm.
Definitely worth a visit "
"There is no lift in this hotel. It’s an old Manor House.
All clean very spacious rooms , beautiful views. Breakfast was delicious. Very dog friendly
"
"Oh my what a hidden gem for families. Massive rooms. Tennis court and massive pool. Decent breakfast choice. Didn’t stay for dinner so can’t comment. Would love to return "
"Staff were lovely and we felt really looked after during our stay. A particular highlight was the food - lamb, chicken and steak were all excellent. "
