Lovely, genuinely old pub in the heart of Winnie the Pooh country. Rooms pristine - individually and very tastefully appointed. Staff all very helpful. Continental breakfast brought to the room by hamper.

We were going to a local wedding and couldn’t meet with the check-in window. So contacted the Bear and they rang us and arranged an early check in which great. Free parking, cars need registering. Lovely room, comfy bed, quality linens, nice toiletries, tea & coffee etc. but over the pub toilets so aware of hand drier noise. Lots of local info and warm welcome and pre ordered continental breakfast delivered in the evening. Quiet over night, lovely heavy dark curtains but no nets and room overlooked by neighbouring houses. All in all we think it’s overpriced at £144 for the night

What a great place. Obviously a popular pub in the village with regulars. Visitors made to feel welcome. Lovely room, all named with Winnie the pooh names. Very clean and comfortable. Breakfast basket was great, loved the croissants. Highly recommend.

We loved our stay at the Bear. If you’re a Pooh Bear admirer, it’s an absolute must! Cute and cozy rooms with Hundreds-Acre Wood wallpaper and tastefully themed decor. A five minute (if even) walk to Pooh Corner and an easy walk to the Pooh Sticks bridge and other Ashdown Forest spots. Reliable parking in their lot, which is a big plus if you’ll be travelling by car. Great food and drinks at the pub as a bonus! Would absolutely recommend!

We had a wonderful stay at The Bear Inn. Piglet room was lovely, very clean with comfy beds and we loved the continental breakfast basket. Staff were all very helpful and friendly too.

Great night’s sleep in a beautiful room

I had an absolutely fantastic stay at the Bear Inn and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone considering staying here. The room was beautiful, in great condition, and had everything I could possibly need. The staff were very helpful and made me feel welcome. My one small issue was with the WiFi as it was running very slow and I couldn’t do anything more than text - possibly I just caught it on a bad day though!

Ashdowne Forest

Lovely characterful pub with rooms. Lots of history and great atmosphere. Not very eco to have lots of little disposable toiletries and whilst the breakfast in the basket was a good idea, some of the products could have been more imaginative. How about a local yoghurt and cereal rather than an industrial toffee youghurt and Kellog’s variety cereals?

Nice people. Breakfast options very limited . Housekeeping didn’t happen but the manager did freshen up the room after we mentioned it.). Radiator in bathroom not working but staff did try to fix.

It was in such a great location! We loved the pub was downstairs and served such great food and drinks! It was nice to walk upstairs and not have to worry about driving. Free parking was nice. Breakfast was just cereal, cold croissant, and a banana but at least it was free. The room was cute but the ceiling was pretty low. My boyfriend had to duck a lot and couldn’t stand in the shower but he is 6’6”. The bath tube was really nice and relaxing! Staff was great as well and helpful! The room was slightly slanted but it served it purpose which a place to sleep. We did find a door in our room that we couldn’t lock which led to a weird hallway. We wish that door was locked but we pushed the chair up against it and no one bother us so we felt safe.
