Up until the last minute it was top notch. Yes, there’s no elevator, steep stairs and the interior design might raise questions (like having the shower in the hallway), but for that price and location - amazing. Also great staff. All but one which changed the entire experience.
Upon checking I asked the receptionist if he could order a taxi for me. It was for a very short ride, approximately 5 minutes to Paddington. Would have done that by foot if not the stormy weather.
The receptionist said it’s not a problem and made a call. He said it would be like 10 minutes which I found odd, but had about 30 minutes till my train so didn’t mind. It didn’t take 10, it took 20. It wasn’t a real taxi either, just a driver who didn’t even know where the Elizabeth line platforms are. He dropped me in a place where I had to walk 5 minutes in the rain, and I also missed my train. But that’s forgivable. What is the fact he had no meter and demanded no less than 20 GBP for less than a mile. I had to pay in cash and got no receipt. Felt like a scam coordinated with the receptionist.
For that, and only for that, I won’t return. Because everything else was great.
