I booked my holiday last minute, and could find no hotels in Dubrovnik that seemed a reasonable quality at a reasonable price, so instead booked this hotel, several miles away in Plat, which is part of the Dubrovnik Riviera, after reading the reviews, in particular one by another single traveller - who had commented on the ease of reaching Dubrovnik from the hotel.
Overall I was delighted with my decision. The hotel (which comprises Hotel Orphee, Villas Plat and Villas Eva and Felicia - known collectively as Hotel Plat) was pleasant - with helpful staff, sufficient breakfast buffet, a lovely pool, and nearby beaches. Even in the peak season it did not seem particularly busy - and was a peaceful and relaxing stay - compared with the bustle of Dubrovnik.
My room in Villas Plat included equipment for cooking - and had a beautiful view over the bay - a view that became all the more beautiful as the sun was setting.
From the hotel there were a variety of ways to reach both Dubrovnik and Cavat (which was only a few miles away) - bus, shuttle bus (Dubrovnik only) or boat - which the staff explained to me on my arrival. Every day I visited Dubrovnik by shuttle bus, which the hotel organised, and was typically the only person on the bus - returning in the evening by cab, although the cab was a comparatively expensive option.
I highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to visit Dubrovnik but happy not to stay in the city centre.
