Under renovation, lack of food options, gate fee
The hotel is in a great location as close as you can get to Mont Saint Michelle. This also means there’s a confusing gate you have to go through that requires a passcode and ticket entry/departure. There’s also very little food options here so come prepared with dinner already eaten or take away. Each time we left the gated area in the 24 h window we were there we had to pay 6 euro fee! This was not disclosed by the hotel.
Our room was large but considering the location we had an obstructed view of Mont Saint Michelle (ground floor room 3) which was disappointing since we had traveled so far to be there. The window for the room was also splattered with dirt/paint or bird droppings making visibility hard. The room lacked an iron but had a large soaking tub I enjoyed. And the breakfast has many offerings including scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes.
My biggest complaint is the on site restaurant. We were starving and didn’t know there was no where else to eat near by. The restaurant didn’t start dinner service until 7 pm. I talked to the manager and they said we should call 10 min to 7 to put in a room service order. So we did and when I called they said they could not accommodate our order since they were really busy and it would be at least 1.5 hours for the kitchen to get to us. How are you already busy WHEN YOU HAVENT OPENED YET? I was furious! We ended up driving down the road to the next town and getting some hot kebabs.
