If you're planning a bit of sightseeing during your trip, head to Dome of Montepulciano – just one of the landmarks located 0.5 mi (0.9 km) from central Montepulciano.
Notable for its wineries, Montepulciano features attractions such as Palazzo Avignonesi and Cantina del Redi. This historical city has something for everyone including sights like Palazzo Ricci and Piazza Grande within a rural setting.

Excellent
A really beautiful Tuscan town, I walked up into town but my husband drove as the hill is quite steep and long. Very much worth though! Great wine tasting venues, we particularly loved Ercolani as we could walk down into the cellars and have a tour.

Loved this beautiful historic city. If you have any orthopedic injuries or shortcomings, best to take the on off tram tour. Also, many hotels seem to have no lift and lots of stairs. Just a note of caution when booking a hotel up top of the city.

This is a beautiful town, but please keep in mind FEB is not the best option due to the cold weather many places are closed.

"This vacation was like stepping into an Italian fairytale. The grounds were stunning and the experience was both beautiful and homely. I still dream about going back here some day. The host was excellent and helped with recommendations and called to arrange our reservations. The close location to montepulciano was perfect. 1000% would recommend "
"Roberto is quite a character - very exuberant and passionate. He & his wife are superb hosts. My room was clean & comfortable, the only small downside is that the air conditioning was only a fan....but at least it didn't dry out my eyes & nose!
Breakfast is a great performance. Roberto & Vittoria serve you everything. Roberto comes around with a trolley full of yoghurts, pastries & cakes & insists you try them. Then out comes the meat & cheese on plates for the table all served with his inimitable flair! You will not go hungry
The hotel is in a great position in Montepulciano with lots of shops & restaurants around. Yes, as others have said there are quite a lot of stairs in the property but if you are visiting a hilltop town like Montepulciano you must be prepared for stairs & steep inclines around the town anyway
Would definitely recommend Hotel la Terrazza"
"Lovely location, good comms, great rooms (4 and 5). 4 had a particularly good view and sitting area.
Osteria over the street excellent, as was the Enoteca. Both owned by the hotel"
"This was my family’s favorite hotel during our trip to Italy. The room was luxurious and spacious, the service was top notch and the pool was an added bonus. We loved the breakfast options and the dinner served at the hotel was one of our favorites of the entire vacation. We had a rental car so were able to take advantage of the proximity to Montepulciano and Pienza. The wine served at the hotel from the on-site winery was very good. We can’t wait to go back!! "
"We spent three nights here, and without a doubt, it was one of the best hotel experiences we've ever had. From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded our expectations. If you're looking for that authentic Tuscan charm—rolling hills, rustic elegance, and a peaceful atmosphere—this is exactly where you need to stay.
The entire property radiates warmth and character, making it feel both luxurious and homely. What truly made our stay exceptional, though, was the staff. Every single person we encountered was welcoming, attentive, and genuinely kind. They went out of their way to ensure we felt comfortable and well cared for throughout our stay.
Highly recommend to anyone looking for an unforgettable experience in Tuscany."
