If you want to give your credit card some exercise, head out to Washington Street Mall in Cape May Historic District. Hotels.com travellers also say the area is walkable and that it has lots of nice beaches. Splash some more cash at Beach Ave.
When the beach is calling your name, you might want to head down to Sunset Beach, located 2.8 mi (4.4 km) from central Cape May. If you want to continue walking by the waves, head to Cape May Beach and Poverty Beach.
Victorian mansions line streets where horse-drawn carriages clip-clop past colourful beach cottages. Climb the lighthouse, spot migrating birds, or relax on pristine beaches before savouring fresh seafood.
Cute little beach town. Very slow in the off season but the rates for a quiet getaway are unbeatable! Check out the lobster house if you're in town- it was FABULOUS! And Ostara's coffee spot- great dirty chai and pork roll bagel breakfast sandwich.

We did walk along the beach. We visited the lighthouse, we climbed the 199 stairs to the top and looked out over the area, very nice. We also visited the Barefoot Bar on Beach Ave. and we recommend visiting that bar. Sean was a great bartender.

Cape May has so much to offer. The beaches are wide and pleasant, there are plenty of food options available and the entire town is totally walkable. The only time we drove our car was to Sunset Beach and to the Ferry.

Love Cape May! Its surrounded by beautiful clean beaches (i.e northern part of the beach, southern tip, bay side). Lots of places to eat and nice hotels to stay at.

Study your choices carefully, lots of good options. It's a "resort town" which means crowded and over-priced. Parking is easy to navigate but expensive. We were here for spring migration birding, it's the only reason for us to ever return.

Don't go in the summer. When we went in Sept, fewer crowds although some of the restaurants were closed for the season. You have to pay for most parking but the BnB has parking included.
"my husband and I planned a weekend getaway for our anniversary. I was nervous about booking because you just never know. We loved it! Communication by text was great. very easy!. Location, cottage all was great. I loved the pool!
Two small things i would have liked - an extra door lock to lock door from the inside would be great. I like the key pad. A nice tall mirror would be nice for the ladies, especially. "
"Side doors into the hotel were not locked at night - they were unlocked and allowed access from outside to inside the hotel and up the stairwell to rooms on all floors. Doors should be locked and key access only. "
"Love the pools that there are two of them one in one out I like the fact that you could order food from the restaurant there cause it was really good. I like the fact that it was across the street from the beach and that the location was excellent."
"Great place. Staff super friendly and very accommodating. Breakfast was simple and yummy and all we really needed. The quiche hit the spot for me. I did, however, crave some decadent breakfast since we were away on vacation. But this was still all we needed. (So I could have more drinks and ic cream later!!)"
