THE DIVERSION
Minnamurra Falls is a fairly well known slice of the national park scene on the south coast.  The people whose house I was sitting had suggested it; it had rained; it was all coming together.  So I lit out, hope springing eternal, winding along the delightful Jamberoo valley flushed green with the recent precipitation.
There were pictures to be had en route, slab huts among them.  I was having a ball.  Then it all came to an abrupt end when I arrived at the entrance to the waterfall complex.  The ranger wanted money.  I had a pass but I’d left it in my motorhome and was bemoaning that fact when the ranger bade me to listen and explained that, despite the recent rains, the creek was the same height as it had been a few days earlier, i.e. hardly any flow
