Tjarna Hotel

The wifi sucks. The pictures posted were misleading. I thought we were close to the beach, but we're not. The hotel was also not so easily found. Love how close it is to the market and the grill. They're in the same location.

Not the best location.

The hotel is in an area that doesn't have much around it or access to transportation. There is a mart downstairs by the hotel and thankfully they called me a cab so I could pick up some items I needed. The cab itself took over half an hour and needed to be recalled because they didn't know where the hotel was. I was charged a large early check in fee which I paid because I was exhausted and had no where else to go. The room smelled like mildew. The floor is rug so holds moisture. Breakfast is ok. Overall slept well, cable was good, wifi cut out a few times and needed to restart my computer to get it going again. Would not stay there again.

Great accommodations near the airport

Very clean and super friendly. It felt like the staff / owners really cared that we enjoyed our visit. Great views overlooking the ocean.

Quite and clean. The breakfast is just basic cold food. This hotel doesn't have elevator.

KEF Tjarna

I would consider this typical European budget class hotel, no frills. no elevator ( all rooms 2nd floor above street level shops) free breakfast was European budget buffet (cold cuts some vegis some bread coffee, juice....) room clean, all facility clean. bath was recent upgrade. good place for KEF arrival or departure day.....

They were very nice and rooms were tastefully decorated. I would suggest they provide glasses in the room however.

Good overnight pre-flight stay, utilitarian hotel with clean rooms and decent breakfast close to the airport. Close to ocean and Viking museum.

I really liked this property, however I wished they cleaned my room everyday. I also thought the food could have been better and it should be known that this place isn't easy to find. Overall, I would recommend it to someone on a long layover in REF or someone what is on a budget for sure. I stayed here because everything in town was sold out solid. I had little to no choice. It did the trick, but I guess I am spoiled by name brands such as Hilton, Marriott, Intercontinental and others.

No elevator at the hotel. Be prepared to walk two flights up with your suitcase. The check in guy saw me downstairs and didn’t offer any help. All he asked whether I have a reservation. He just walked upstairs himself and sit there. I confirmed my name and I offered my passport. He said no need to show him. Every time I pass by the front desk, he is on his cellphone. I was expecting a little bit more especially for the money I paid. You can take a bus ( not the one to the city) which only costs about $3.5 to the hotel, it’s a walk from the bus station. I don’t recommend if your luggages are heavy. Overall, it makes more sense to stay in the city.
