We had a lovely stay this week in this hotel. Room was clean. They had a fire going virtually all day downstairs so we ate there both nights. Lovely food. Staff very friendly

We enjoyed our stay. The annual cider festival was in full swing when we arrived, but this wasn't really an issue. Food was great. Staff were helpful. It's a pub... and a good one.

Nice little getaway
Great little pub and restaurant with tea rooms annexed (that also do a breakfast). The noise from the bar travelled up but thats to be expected. The bed could have been comfier.

Great nights stay
Great nights stay, lots of free parking, big room, lovely bathroom and fabulous food, the staff were super friendly especially the young lady who looked after us in the restaurant on the Friday night.

Great little weekend getaway
The hotel was very cozy and welcoming. The food was lovely and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. And breakfast the following morning was a delight.

Very pleasant staff, good food both in tea room and main pub, nice location to visit Peak District. Traditional English experience.

An enjoyable stay.
Very happy with our stay. Staff were helpful and friendly. Room was very comfortable and bathroom was clean and the shower was easy to use. The only slight problem was we were in room 2 and the traffic outside was a bit noisy!
Colin, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Lovely hotel, friendly staff , unfortunately kept awake til 2am on the second night by guests (or locals) chatting in the bar area below. Woken up that morning by the adjacent launderette in full action!
Richard, 2-night trip

6/10 Good

Lovely location and great pub. Food not fancy and just standard pub grub. Room spacious, clean and comfy but walls really thin and I could hear snoring and morning sound effects through the walls. Toilet flushing sounded like a coffee grinder and not great if wanting to sleep!

Was dissapointed the room was cold when we got there. But it warmed up when we put the heating on. Big disappointment was breakfast was not included in the price. Ā£115 Iā€™ve never booked an hotel that doesent offer free breakfast Iā€™m sure it was listed has free. But we had to pay. The pub food was excellent. So we will be back for the food

Terrorvision Gig in a Cave
We don't usually stay in a B and B but we booked this one for a Terrorvision. gig in a cave in Castleton. It was a beautiful walk to and from the venue. The room was absolutely lovely and the staff were brilliant. Free parking made the deal even sweeter. We would definitely stay here again. PS... Terrorvision absolutely rocked the cave. xx

6/10 Good

Extremely noisy with general bar chatter below and loud band going on until midnight. Possibly due to concurrent beer festival. Couldnā€™t relax or sleep in room until gone midnight. Otherwise, very good

It was quirky, and I might even add ,a bit spooky- 4 posterbed, dripping chandeliers everywhere, creaking floorboards a creepy suit of armour in stairwell, view over graveyard( Bamford suite). I loved it ,to be honest. It had all mod coms, too, and I would recommend it to all, especially Goths and those of us looking for somewhere a bit different with character. Try the Indian restaurant in the village ,it's excellent. But get your alcohol from Spar first.

Booked quite late for a long weekend and really pleased with our choice of hotel. Situated in the centre of Hope the hotel is an imposing building with lots of character. Check in went smoothly and we were shown to our room at the front of the hotel. Two sets of windows stopped any noise and the room itself was quite spacious with a nice bathroom/shower. We dumped our luggage and went into the bar/restaurant for a bite to eat. Service was great and food delicious. I had the steak pie and have to say best Iā€™ve had for a long time. My wife had the burger which was equally as good. Had a really good nights sleep and the bed itself was really comfy as were the pillows/duvet. Breakfast was in the cafe and having arrived we were told by the woman serving that there was a ā€œno showā€ from the chef but she would do her best to get us a decent breakfast and offered tea and toast. Some 10 mins or so after we arrived the chef did turn up, so we were able to order a cooked breakfast after all. Have to say the lady in the cafe was brilliant in managing the situation she found herself in and it didnā€™t spoil our breakfast experience. Overall we had a great stay. Thank you.
