I travel every week and have to do business in Gauteng once a month and despite living in Johannesburg for 10 years previously, the city no longer appeals to me, so I look for a breakaway at night after after doing battle in the metro all day. Well, Glenda’s certainly is that. Set amongst smallholdings with some of the most beautiful horses I have seen in some time, it is an oases in the city, yet a shopping mall is 5 minutes drive away to stock up or eat out at a restaurant if the urge takes you. Glenda’s also has a small on site restaurant where you can pre order a dinner if you don’t feel like making your own ( my suite was self catering).
There is an outdoor pool, large grounds and excellent braai facilities. The in-house chef even lit the fire for me, as well as a huge pit fire for atmosphere; wood provided by the guesthouse.
Visiting the big smog but don’t like the city? Visit Glenda’s for a country side breakaway- you will not be disappointed.
Good value for money too.
