The hotel and expedia need to make it clear that this is a self-check in hotel which is only staffed in person a few hours a day. I have never been to such hotels and it was a confusing experience to begin with.
The initial booking page stated that this hotel had a 24 hr reception (which I assumed meant a person was on reception). When I received the self-check in code I just assumed it was in case I arrived late night. On entering the building (a multi-use building) there were no signs telling me which floor to go to and a staircase with poor lighting. I had an accident whilst searching where I was meant to go, bleeding and with no-one around to ask. Within the hotel section the signage needed to be clearer.
The room and en-suite was excellent - very clean, modern, welcoming. My queries were met via the phone service and when I met a staff member the following morning she was very helpful and listened attentively to my complaints. The hotel also apologised in writing about the signage.
Once I understood how self-check in hotels operate I was more settled, and had this been made clearer at the start I would have given a good to excellent rating.
