This is a historical site and needs work. I went into it with those expectations and had a great time. Rooms are clean and AC works well. This place is a gem. Employees are wonderful and dedicated to the legacy. Loved it

Where do I even begin. This was the worst and creepiest place I have ever stayed. The place is falling apart with cracked tile and chipping paint and crumbling plaster. The rooms are sparse with linens from decades ago, the shower barely trickled, there was a sign that said let it run for 15 minutes in order to get hot water. We checked in after closing and were literally the only people there. It was so creepy I felt like I was in an old horror movie. We debated on leaving but were exhausted so we stayed and were glad to get out unscathed 😛 DO NOT STAY HERE

This place and its history is very cool! Being able to stay in a place with so much history, isn’t something you have the opportunity to do very often. With that being said, it is old and very quirky and definitely more on the lines of roughing it. If you can appreciate a cool piece of history and want to stay close to Death Valley it does the job…

This is an historic hotel that hasn’t been updated throughout any point in history. This makes it quaint and cute. It does mean, however, that the rooms are old and historic too. Tile in the bathroom was falling apart, carpet was rough, we had to wipe lots of dirt off of the bed comforter. Just know going in, it’s old and needs lots of attention. Staff is super friendly, great proximity to Death Valley National Park.

The Opera House is not where you go if youre looking for in room massages. Its a historical building made of adobe with a unique back story that excuses its sometimes flaky exterior. You stay here for history. You stay here for the unique experience. The entrance to Death Valley is literally a block away, making this a hikers dream. The wild donkeys come to drink next to the back of the property in the morning. The staff are some of the friendliest around. The rooms have a bed and a hot shower, theres a microwave and a plethera of games, as well as a book nook. And an experience you cannot get at the soulless modern hotel. Make sure you take the tour if youve never heard of Miss Marta.

No TV, coffee pot or microwave in rooms, only at front lobby common area. Rooms clean, bed was good, plenty of hot water, some things like bathroom sink replaced, but over-all the building is very old and falling apart. Some photos shown are very out of date and misleading. If you just need a place to sleep and a shower, it's okay, and if you can get in on the Opera House tour, it is very interesting.

The photos online severely misrepresented the state of disrepair. Our room was not clean and the ceiling and walls were falling apart. More than just disappointing, I was embarrassed to have brought my partner there.

Dilapidated building with every paint surface peeling. Hallway smelled like mold or maybe feces. The bathtub was full of dead flies when I arrived, and the floor was bending upwards at the edges. The air conditioning sounded like a jet engine and smelled like dust. Absolutely cannot recommend this place.
