Rest after visiting Ferris Provincial Park

Nice place in a small town very comfortable stay overnight. Found a reasonable priced restaurant for dinner after spending a few hours walking the trails in Ferris Provincial park. Also it was a plus to find a BB that allowed us to bring our small dog with us.

I liked the old feel home with updated features. Although I didn't bring my swim suit, I liked that there was a hot tub to use.

Cycling weekend

We were in Campbellford for the weekend to cycle one of the Northumberland county cycling routes. We chose the Emilyville due to its recommendation on the cycling route description. Check in was casual. A note was left on the door indicating our room. The owner lives next door and left her phone number for arranging breakfast time etc. Our bed was comfortable and room was very clean. But, the room (Cannonball room) was very small- only enough room to walk around the bed. Breakfast was okay. I’ve definitely had better! Omelets with what seemed to be processed cheese. Store bought, white bread toast. Bacon, fresh fruit. Only coffee was provided, until I asked for juice. I then got a lovely large glass of orange juice. No tea was offered. There was no jam for toast. On the next day, eggs again - any style. We chose scrambled. They were overdone and not well mixed ( whites and yolks separate). We were given juice right away, as she remembered from previous day. Again, no jam for toast. It seems to me that with a cheese factory as well as a famous bakery in town, that use of their products ( fresh bread, good cheddar) would be easy things to improve the breakfast. Also, hot tub was not functional and the access to one had played a factor in our decision to stay there. Kimberly (host) was very accommodating when asked but she did not readily engage in conversation. She did offer to let us leave our car in the parking area while we biked, following check out. This was great

Ok.Accusatory attitude of owner was disappointing

Pleasant enough b&b. Good location. Bedroom was fine. Breakfast was disappointing and dry, with no juice or tea or coffee served at the start. We had to ask for water and juice, and it came near the end of our breakfast after 10 minutes. Coffee finally arrived after 20 minutes but it was too late. The hotel owner was not around at checkout. Half an hour after departing, she left a rather rude voicemail demanding payment which was odd, while also claiming my card had been rejected, which it hadn’t (I called my bank to check). I politely informed her by voicemail that all my payment information was supplied as normal as standard with the hotels.com booking and that there were no issues with my card. I left my email on the voicemail to contact if there was anything else needed - she then emailed again saying the same thing that my card was rejected, and asking for an e-transfer of cash. A quick call by myself to hotels.com and I was able to verify with the agent that my card had been charged without a problem. The agent tried to call the b&b owner with me on the line, but she would not answer the phone. I forwarded a copy of the email receipt to the owner, showing that my card had been charged. No apology was forthcoming, but a simple “thank you” email. Pretty bizarre overall.

Old Ontario home with original flooring. Charming. The house needs a lot of work to upgrade. Eg. floors are very squeaky. It is very close to busy road with trucks. How to soundproof it ? Garden even though early in season could do with tidy up and organization.

Warm winter stay in Campbellford.

Lovely old building, nicely renovated, with a very comfortable room. The Inn was immaculate and very well furnished. The hostess was very pleasant and the check-in and check-out was quick and painless. Breakfast was great, very tasty. The local area is very nice and the location of the Inn was perfect for my visit to the town, right downtown.

We were the only guests so had this beautiful historic house to ouselves and kimbrtly was a very concened & attentive host from afar.... thank yiu!!!!
