Excellent Thermal Pools

Ths rooms are basic by North American standards however the thermal pools are excellent. The thermal water comes from the Sele river which can be seen from the property. In addition to the large pool there are mud pools. Staff tried to charge extra for entering the pools but acquiesced. Region is popular with Italians otherwise not well known.

Our room was brand new! Extremely clean. And staff was friendly. My teenage daughter and I loved the thermal pools.

Concerns about this hotel

See photos showing fire doors propped open and fire detector covered. All alarm operation units were also covered. The fire alarm system in this part of the complex would not work in the event of a fire situation. There was no documentation on display as is required by law about what to do in the event of a fire. Building work was on going on the floor above us. This building was not ready for occupation. This building did not conform with Safety legislation The room staff and restaurant staff were exceptionally good. If you are going to recommend premises you should ensure that all legislstion is fully complied with. WiFi was not good

Very good hotel with an excellent pool, the room is big and and nice classic The breakfast was reasonable.

Interesting place

This is as much a Spa as a hotel. We found it interesting if a bit impersonal. Very few of the staff speak more than a few words of English. We took advantage of the sulfur water baths whose fragrance permeates the entire building

Very Italian

Rural Italian village with good spa and pool areas. The sulphur in the pool does smell but you get used to it quickly. Rooms are modern, staff are adequate. Must have car to explore local villages.

Good food, nice staff

My situation was unusual as I didn't stay here for the spa. It's location was right in the middle of 4 villages I was visiting to do family research. I stayed for nearly a week, and I really have no complaints. The food was good. Dinner each night was great and the wait staff was really very nice. Breakfast was as good as I've seen anywhere else in Italy. They had lots to choose from and everything was delicious. The surrounding neighborhood was a bit grim, but I'd imagine most people who stay here have a car as it's far from any town. I never went to the spa or the pool. My trip was for other things and I'm not really into massages and such. The prices weren't outrageous for the spa but I could see how that could start adding up if you went for a few different treatments. I did like having my own balcony since I'm a smoker.

Hotel and area is fine - sulphur smell offputting.

We chose this hotel because it was in a small village rather than on the busy Amalfi coast. The first thing that hit us was the smell. I had not considered the sulphur smell would have been as strong as it was. We had not booked the hotel to use the spa, just a relaxing break in the sun. I did consider changing hotel because the smell was overpowering but on some days it disappeared only to come back again. We could not fault the hotel itself except the dinner menu was very restricted and although the food was OK it was certainly nothing special. We decided to eat out at two other hotels - the Taverna Vecchia being excellent in taste, quality and price. Whatever we ordered (including a carafe of wine) came to 25 Euros for two!!!! The staff at the Hotel Terme Capasso were very helpful if you needed them. Although their command of the English Language was not great we got by with a phrase book and gesticulations. There was plenty of choice at Breakfast. It was continental only as advertised. The local bars in the village were excellent. There was no need to go out of the village if you didn't want to. There is a local supermarket which had all the required basics - Beer, Wine and water at sensible prices. The spa is most definitely the most dominant feature of the hotel.

Nice hotel but a little hard to find

We stayed here to visit both the Sanctuary of St. Gerard on two consecutive days. It worked perfectly. Great price and breakfast.
