Tembo House Hotel & Apartments

Tembo Hotel was a beautifully decorated hotel right on the edge of the beach in Stone Town. The beach is accessible at all times. Lovely clean beach with abundance of local activity especially towards late afternoon. I was upgraded to a suite at a minimal price by the friendly manager Rahim. The suite was on the beach front, literally one step away from the sand. Quite a spacious room with a spacious bathroom as well. Plenty of antique furniture all around the hotel. The pools were very well maintained. Two pools, one large swimming pool in the central part of the hotel, and a smaller one on the first floor with a lovely view of the ocean and sunset. Service was excellent. Breakfast is served buffet style and overlooking the beach, a variety of foods which are different every morning, as well as an egg/pancake station. Fresh fruits offered every morning as well as three different juice options every day. Overall a very nice experience staying at Tembo Hotel, will definitely recommend and wouldn't mind staying again.

Convenient location to visit the best places in stone town. Very authentic hotel, good value for money. Nice view from the balcony. Beds too small, room size small.

Friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful grounds, with antique furniture. A large center pool and an infinite pool 1st floor overlooking beach . Triple room, had 3 small bottles of water, bring more. Breakfast was perfect with a very happy, smiling cook making omelets.

The ambience of nature and peace , it was worth the stay. Staff were always smiling and the manager was friendly and professional .

We stayed for 3 nights for our honeymoon. They decorated our room very nicely for us with gorgeous flowers. We had a beautiful balcony view that faced the infinity pool and the beach. Breakfast each day was good. Dinner was also good but was a bit pricey. All of the staff was very accommodating. Would definitely recommend to others and stay again!

The view of the ocean from the room was majestic. The hotel was rustic yet modern. Food served in the restaurant was very good.

Tembo House is a very nice property centrally located at the heart of Stone Town and by the beach. Nice room and comfortable bed, well appointed bathroom. Friendly staff, good breakfast and restaurant, only downfall is no alcool service (but nearby Livingstone Beach Bar came to the rescue). Don’t miss the sunset from the 2nd floor terrace pool! Recommended.

The Tembo hotel offers a very unique location, on a beautiful beach where small local boats are waiting to take you on a tour of beautiful small islets a few miles off the coast. Its historical setting and romantic architecture definitely add to the experience. The hotel is also at the center of the old Stone Town, with access to dozens of exotic stores and restaurants. The staff is as helpful as dedicated and can arrange for all sorts of excursions. The hotel restaurant offers great menus and a marvelous breakfast.

The location is good. Breakfast was ok but egg and pancake station was the winner.

Good location, check in was good, check out could have been better, the person seemed very confused about my very basic questions. Good variety in the breakfast offering. Rest of staff were good.
