Our experience was absolutely perfect. Richard, the Innkeeper, was an amazing host. He gave us great recommendations around town for dinner and there were many wonderful touches included in the stay. We also got to learn a lot about the house. The breakfast was phenomenal. Richard goes above and beyond for everyone who stays at the mansion. I cannot emphasize enough what a pleasure it was to stay here.

It eas amazing. The bed and breakfast is beautiful. The room is gorgeous. It truly is a mansion . Richard is a wonderful host. He makes the best breakfast. Meeting the other guests and joining them for breakfast is very special too. Richard serves the home made fresh breakfast and it is like stepping into another era. I will definitely come back.

My wife and I decided on a weekend getaway on short notice. We enjoy touring old mansions and so we were delighted when we came across the Alexander Mansion while doing a google search of nearby bed and breakfasts (We live in Minneapolis). The check-in with Richard was fun and easy. Richard provided several dinner recommendations and made our reservation once we decided where we wanted to go. Our accommodations were clean, comfortable, and well designed. The mansion was a step back in time. Richard provided an excellent four course breakfast. We are excited to return as soon as possible. We plan on bringing friends next time to enjoy the space.

This is the best B&B around. I hate sharing the review because more people will stay. Richard and David are the perfect hosts. The rooms are lovely and the breakfast is more than you could ask for. The only negative is the white wine should be chilled during the wine social. Each day they white wine was warm. However, if that's the only negative, then it's a WIN. Winona is a wonderful town and it's great to explore when the college students are not yet in attendance. The B&B is full of history and Richard gives a wonderful story of the history. Will definitely stay again.

I am a ‘lifetime platinum Mariott rewards’ (now bonvoy) member and all that means is that I’ve spent a lot of nights away from home in very systematic and sanitized corporate accommodations. As a business traveler, ‘no surprises’ are very important to me so that I can focus on the business I am cultivating. So I write this realizing now that climbing the point ladder is fine but lacks depth and meaning. My stay at Alexander Mansion (Richard’s Mansion) was a welcomed introduction to a meaningful stay. Richard (innkeeper) is the key to this meaningful experience. He is humble, warm and welcoming. He cares about you and that is ever present throughout your stay. Surprises are plenty in a home that was constructed more than a century ago. Not a hidden USB port in the lamp kind of surprise but gorgeous woodwork and craftsmanship that you could look at for hours, actual working fireplaces (wood burning), and on and on. It starts and ends with Richard. Let him usher you into his world for a night. Slow down, kick back and relax. You won’t be disappointed. If you are in a hurry, you might be.
