Bell boys are likely to accost you on arrival and the reception, which is slow if there’s a queue, and your passport will be kept for an hour or more to process your registration (you have to return to collect it yourself. Continental breakfast is provided and there are bars / cafes / cash machines / currency exchange in the lobby. The rooms to the front of the hotel have a view over the central square, those to the back have a view of non-distinct buildings but have balconies (no balconies at the front). The corridors, rooms and carpets are run down. The larger rooms seem to be on the higher floors and are spacious, but lack tea / coffee making, and have signs at the sink saying “not drinking water.” Large room had double bed, table, two chairs, bedside cabinets, desk with TV on it, wardrobe, fridge, cupboards and walk-in shower. Only a handful of inconvenient plug sockets, lighting is dim, no way of controlling the temperature. Various toiletries provided, but wifi was intermittent and my VPN wouldn’t engage. Subway station is available just round the corner (approximately £0.10 flat fare), a city map in front of the hotel details various city attractions, but there must be a security situation in the country as there are police everywhere searching bags and restricting access to open areas. Excellent location, easy for taxis to find, but doesn’t provide daily drinking water and certainly isn’t luxury, though it may once have been.

I had booked 332 square feet room but the hotel alloted very small room of around 110 square feet, Air conditioning/heating was not working, there was no hot water in bathroom, intercom not working, shutter of cupboard broken, carpets dirty and worn out . This is a worst kind of hotel, I wonder how it claim 4 stars!

It is what it is. If you have money stay somewhere else. That simple.

Impressive building from Soviet times but facilities run down

Soviet era hotel, Soviet era service. Fantastic modernist facade: after that, everything got worse. We arrived, tired, an hour before designated check-in. The grim-faced receptionist told us it would cost us an extra half-day. Excellent location, impressive building: otherwise forget it.

This hotel need badly to be updated. Everything looks so old. Carpet and furniture look very bad. Good customer care.

Very dated. Air conditioning was not great. Hot water was not work first night. I didn’t expect luxury but I stayed in another hotel in Tashkent which was a lot better and similar price.

STAY AWAY !!! Horrible hotel! Iconic outside but looks abandoned inside. Looks old and haunted. If you like staying in crappy haunted looking hotels then this is the place for you ! Dirty and dusty carpets. Nothing was working in the room. The AC unit was not functioning . There’s was a TV and phone but not working. The staff didn’t care. I would not pay to stay here.

This hotel is a sight to behold. It has the soviet era feel from the 1970s. The location is incredibly convenient with the metro just right at the hotel doorstep. There are lots of eating and shopping options nearby. The room itself is pretty good and has a retro feel. I have not seen such ancient air conditioning since I was a child. The room is clean, the toilet functions properly. The only grouse I have is that the power outlets are few in the room, and are located at inconvenient places away from the bed.

Location is great. Room were hot and you have no control over the AC. Carpet and rooms a bit dirty. Zero flexibility on checkout time. Old style soviet management.
