Clean room with comfortable bed. Iron & hairdryer was an added bonus. Ideal location for an evening at the Royal Albert Hall as only a short walk away. Breakfast was limited, by 9.30am there was very little left so would recommended getting there early. Not quite as luxurious a stay as we had hoped from the photos - room was very small and on ground floor with ventilation units outside window. Check in via the Sonder app was straight forward.

Great location, nice breakfast, friendly staff. Overall would recommend this hotel, if you are looking for a super location in South Kensington close to the museums and shopping this is the place to stay. On the downside, no AC, even in cooler months higher floors are very poorly ventilated, if you can sleep in 25c no problem

Gilbert Hotel (Sonder)

Nice friendly staff. Breakfast was simple but good. Room (512) was tiny. No AC (a small fan provided) over a couple of hot days in London. Shower was adequate but not powerful… probably just as well as the shower cubicle was so small I couldn’t get out of the jet to wash / lather so an ordeal rather than a pleasure. One of the two downlighters was out in the bathroom. Good position close to Gloucester Road tube. Overall if it had been £120 a night I wouldn’t have a problem, but it was £500 for two nights and just not good enough.

For me the location of the hotel was very good. It was easily accessible by public transportation. The hotel corridor and room was very hot and not air conditioned. But in the room by keeping the windows open it was okish. The rest was fine, friendly staff, good communication before check in and had easy check in check out process.

Hotel is in a nice area. Close to Gloucester Road Station which makes the rest of london very easy to access and walkable for those who like walking. The room was fine and had everything you would need for a short stay BUT the hotel has no AC and refused to provide a fan so on a hot day, this was a shockingly bad stay.

Lovely place!

The building was beautiful and we felt very welcome when we arrived - the staff were brilliant! They were very happy to help and answer any questions. We booked a queen room and were under the impression from the pictures we had a window that looked out on to the street, however we had a basement apartment and very little view, but this didn't bother us too much as the room was lovely. The bed was very comfy - there was a few areas that were starting to look a little tired and the table was stained and hidden by a tissue box, so would definitely be one to flag if we were to stay again. All round lovely place and in the perfect area for access to lots of great places to eat, drink and enjoy! ✨

Booked a small double so wasn’t expecting a huge room. The room was very small but had everything we needed as we were out most of the day. The main issue we did have was the shower. It was truly awful. I would recommend that some of the staff actually try washing in it. It was a tiny corner shower with a fixed shower head. The water was split between hot and cold (it didn’t mix them together) and the space was so limited it was nearly impossible to wash. The bed however, was very comfortable and we slept well. Nice to have tea/coffee in the room. Lack of plugs and a mirror would have been helpful. The only mirror was in the bathroom - not great when doing hair. We would stay at a Sonder again but definitely not in a room this small - and definitely one with a usable shower. The area was lovely. Very quiet and close to underground. We had a fire alarm on our second night at 1am which was a rude awakening! Think the fire procedure could be improved as there were lots of people waiting inside the hotel. Not sure what would have happened if it had been a real incident.

Hotellet och dess service var toppen, nära till tuben, nära till shopping och restauranger. Stort rymligt rum och liten liten toalett och dusch, räckte hur bra som helst. Inga kort att håll resa på utan endast kod till både entrén och rummet. Vi skulle gärna bo här igen men då blir det frukost ute. För oss som kommer från Sverige med hög standard när det kommer till frukost, så var det nästan pinsamt. Kaffe, färsk juice och små youghurt var topp. Onödigt massa bullar med kanel och choklad. Vi saknade skinka, ägg, gurka och tomat i skivor tex.

Functional, clean, close to tube station

Close to gloucester road station, check in by code with 24 hour receptionist but the place feels robotic because there is no need to speak to receptionist, nor the room "speaks to you". Room is small with no personal touch. However, everything you need as a place to sleep overnight and close to tube station is there. Consistent with most reviews. No pleasant or unpleasant surprises

Breakfast buffet almost empty at 9 am…safe not working; shower so small with fixed shower head so you cannot enter without wetting yr hair … no cleaning service of the room … this hotel looks like an hotel for zombies …dirty carpet in hallway. I was not given the room allocated on my confirmation note… no reason given … top floor room with no possibility to properly open the only window…
