Balgownie Estate Vineyard Resort & Spa Review

Our family (2 adults, 2 children) have stayed at Balgownie Estate for 2 nights. The staff are friendly. They allowed us to check in earlier than the normal time. Breakfast/dinner was quite good.

I stayed here for the second time as I stayed here a few years ago and no complaints, this time was a bit different as they have just done the renovation since the fire. The check in staff were lovely and the process was easy and seamless, but when asked where the suite I would be staying in I was given a map and on my way. The areas aren't well signed and I actually had to ask a member of the housekeeping staff how to get to my room, once in my room, the furnishings are modern but unfortunately the cleanliness was a let down, there was the kitchen bench mirror splashback was smeary, there were cobwebs on the windows in the lounge and bedroom, dead flies on the tiles near the sliding balcony doors and dusty coffee table, main dining table and the wooden top of the bedhead was dusty. The grounds are lovely and picturesque but when you are paying nearly $400 per night for a spa suite it fell a little short. I would return again to the restaurant and for a winery tour as I have done in the past, I would recommend also this more as a couple resort, friends or families not really great for solo travelers

Simply the Best

It was excellent, amazing, simply awesome. Starting with Reception by a very friendly staff, who helped us to get a table for Dining even though we got there just past 9pm and kitchen was almost closed and then the excellent service by the Bar and Restaurant staff.. so welcoming and they know what service means. The room was spacious, spa was working good, tv and sufficient movies and other channells.. too bad we stayed only 1 night. Will be back again.

Positives: Beautiful area reasonably modern accommodation. Nice Restaurant Professional and lovely staff Negatives: Spa wasn't properly cleaned (hair) No parent facilities in restaurant / reception area bathrooms. Toilet facilities seem to suffer from a cheap contractor iun the remodel. The toilet paper holder is falling off in the mens bathroom, poor lighting etc.
