This hotel is in an absolutely spectacular location and is situated in beautifully kept gardens which include an stunning outdoor pool. However - we were extremely disappointed with our room. There was continuous, ongoing construction all around it and even within the ceiling space above our bathroom. Concrete dust was prevalent and air conditioning was not functional. Breakfast was not included in our room rate and at a cost of 25 Euros per person, it too was disappointing for this price.

An unexpected GEM! The hotel remodeled a number of rooms and ours was incredible. They say the hotel closes in October to complete the job and it will be amazing. We are going to come back next Sept for an extended stay. Can't wait. Great service, close to downtown, very quiet. incredible

Avoid the 2nd building! Buy breakfast outside!

The Grand Hotel Bristol, Stresa is a confused 4 or 5 * hotel. The front of the hotel and entrance foyer is beautifully appointed with welcoming reception staff. I booked a very last minute 4 night break for my wife and I in late August. The hotel is split between 2 buildings. The first/main building is lavishly decorated in the public areas. The 2nd building is accessed via an underground walkway decorated with plush carpet's and display cases showing off local souvenirs or via a horizontal elevator. Yes, such a thing exists. The noise it makes does not inspire confidence. Arriving in the 2nd building, the ground floor public space is just the same as the main building. But our room on the 4th/top floor was anything but 5*. It would have been acceptable in a 2* star hotel. My disappointment is that a room of such low quality shouldn't exist in a 5* hotel and be charged over €200 per night to stay in it. Our room and I assume all of the rooms in the 2nd building are in dire need of modernising. The bathroom was old with a shower enclosure which was extremely small and leaked water through the door seals. The hotel does not provide slippers or gowns in the 2* rooms. No kettle or tea & coffee facilities are available in the room. An empty old mini fridge was hidden away in a cupboard.The room was very clean despite it's poor standard of decorating. €25 each for buffet breakfast is also disappointing..the hot food is left in open servers which means its barely warm. Do better!

Sub-par stay, misleading advertisement

Extremely disappointed with our family stay at this hotel for our once a year summer holiday. We felt mislead as only upon arrival we realised that we should take an underground sideways elevator / train to our rooms in a separate annex building not conforming to the pictures or standards of the main hotel. Our view was of the bus parking area and some materials for construction. The shower only fit people with a height of max 170 cm., and we could not stand up in the shower. We ordered a burger at the pool bar at the price of EUR 24 - thus exceeding local Michelin guide main course prices in the Stresa city. The burger appeared to be made of entirely processed food with no burger sauce in it. Two seemingly completely standard tap beers (Blanc) was EUR 20 at the pool bar for a relatively small plastic glass. I will happily pay EUR 20 for a locally brewed craft beer and EUR 24 for a solid, handmade burger, but sadly this was not it. Parking was EUR 20 a day. The pool area and towel service were the only satisfactory part of our stay. Never experienced such sub standard quality for the price of this stay, and we will not come back nor recommend it.

Das Zimmer war bei der Ankunft nicht sauber geputzt worden. Wir reklamierten an der Rezeption, worauf uns geantwortet wurde „ Es waere ja auch nur ein Standardzimmer“, was uns fassungslos machte. Der Hoteltrakt, wo sich unser Zimmer befand, war ungepflegt und sehr laut. Das Fenster haben wir geschlossen gehalten, da von dort der Laerm, entweder durch eine laufende Pumpe oder eine Anlage die diesen hohen summenden Ton verursacht hat, hereindrang. Wir waren zwei Naechte dort und haetten bei einem laengeren Aufenthalt sicher auf ein anderes Zimmer gepocht.
