The room was tired and dated. The sheets had holes in it. Cold draughty bathroom. Dark room. Extra payment for dog when we arrived. Very poor breakfast.

The property was chosen for the location! The room was clean but very tiered! The breakfast was adequate! If you can afford a little more per room then do it If you’re going to stay there I suggest wearing ear plugs when you go to bed!(very noisy roads)

Quirky little gem of a hotel

Love this little gem of a hotel. Quirky and all the rooms are very different but always comfortable. Staff are always very helpful and welcoming and breakfast and wifi is included which is a nice touch at this price range. Don't expect 5* or a perfectly maintained hotel but you will have a comfortable and great value stay in a nice location with plenty of free parking.

This is a lovely and really old property with very interesting features. Unfortunately it is not now used to its full potential but was a comfortable place to stay for a night. We had everything we needed even though one or two places could do with updating. Meals, other than a buffet breakfast, are not provided, so it would be necessary to find somewhere else for an evening.

Good parking opposite

The Jersey Arms was nice, old and full of character though no mention of bar & restaurant being closed for refurbishing! Staff were very helpful and rooms were very clean though bed not very comfy on mattress though nice to include simple breakfast although I don’t participate but my friend did

OK for a lay over but don’t expect much

Guy on reception friendly. Car park is across from a very busy road. You take your life in your hands! Building quaint but very run down. Continual breakfast was probably the poorest fare I have ever been offered. Traffic very noisy, no air con so don’t stay in hot weather.

Another place charging excessive amount for a dog

Friendly staff. The room and bedding was clean. Continental breakfast was satisfactory. Disappointed that there was not a bar or evening meal available. All in not bad value for less than £60 The downside was thenow ubiquitous charge for our dog. £20 for what? Nothing. He has his own bed, his own food, doesn't shed hair. This is becoming all to common now

We recently spent a very enjoyable 4 night stay at the Jersey Arms. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable. Complimented by the very efficient and helpful manager. We would definitely stay there again

2/10 Poor

Do not stay here.

The outside of this hotel looks pretty but inside very dated, run down and dirty. Every wall we saw was grubby and dusty. Our bedroom was rundown and the bathroom. There was a light bulb hanging from the ceiling having fallen out. The bed was a disgrace. The mattress had collapsed on one side so was like sleeping on a flat spring. The other side was broken towards the end of the bed too. The breakfast was very basic. No staff at desk to raise these issues

Quirky hotel with lots of character

I loved this quirky hotel. They bent over backwards to please us and although neither the bar nor the restaurant were operational they allowed us to bring drinks into the hotel and provided glasses and ice for us. the bedroom was huge and the bed was a queen bed and really comfortable. Yes there are things that could be done to improve this hotel but I loved it

Nice place with character. Location was ideal for us. Only gripes was the room was very cold and breakfast had limited choice. Upon booking in the room was warm but from that point and the next two days, the heating did not switch on leaving the bathroom damp and cold along with bedroom being very cold. I did mention the lack of heating but as the heating was ok in the hotel, front of house did not take on board my concernes.

Really great stay, room is lovely and clean. Bathroom a little disappointing but clean. Reception does not give an accurate representation of hotel.

Lovely room, comfy bed and lovely staff. The pub is no longer open so no food or drink available. Communal areas a bit tired, but lovely dining room for continental breakfast. I took a picnic that I had in the lovely courtyard at I read from reviews the pub part is shut. Very handy for motorways and Bicester Shopping Village.

Power failed and could not be restored. No hot water on one morning. Quite a lot of noise from other rooms. Limited breakfast each morning. Staff were nice. Room was fairly inexpensive. The actual room was fine, but no cleaning or fresh towels during the stay and single towel just got damper and more cold each morning

We were welcomed by the wonderful, cheerful owners. The entry and reception area is humble, but I felt the staff went out of their way to make us happy The room was clean and the king size bed was the best you can find. Because the building is old and somewhat repurposed, there are unique details to make the space more accessible. The room we occupied, #5, had 3 steps up from the hallway into the very large room. There were 2 steps down into the bathroom which had an extra long tub with a shower at one end. Everything worked and the hot water came quickly. The breakfast was served in a lounge that belongs in a manor house.

This is a budget hotel, so the saying you get what you pay for fits. The staff are very nice and accommodating - our tv didn’t work so the staff let us use the empty room next door. The property was lovely but now it is becoming tired and needs money spending on it. We paid £60 for a night which was the correct value for the room. Breakfast is basic. I did not like the fact they tried to get customers to pay £20 for a dog. Most places are around £10, so £20 is a third of the total price, felt a little greedy. If you are on a budget, it is worth staying here.

It’s a very old property and definitely has potential to be a lovely hotel however needs a full renovation. Our room had windows that didn’t close properly a loo that needed a good dose of bleach, a temperamental shower and a bathroom floor that needed a good scrub or replacing the decor made the room very gloomy. We didn’t mind the sloping floors - part of the charm of a very old building and the bed was comfortable . No daily housekeeping whilst we were there but we had our own supply of tea coffee and milk so not an issue to us. Expensive but everywhere within a few miles of silverstone is during F1 weekend.

Dirty, cold and moldy

Dirty, cold and moldy plus not a proper continental breakfast. No worth the money charged. Interestingly there is no evening meal servic., So we had to look elsewhere for dinner The Barley and Mow provided home cooked pub meals and advised us that on average they receive three complaints week from people staying at the Jersey Arms Hotel. It says it all! At breakfast you can see you own breath as the heating isn't on. What a feature. The bath mat was disintegrating and shower curtain was moldy as well. See photos.

Really not great!

Pros: The building is beautiful Some of the furnishings were lovely (four poster bed, cushioned headboard) The staff were helpful Cons: We booked the suite, mainly because it was advertised to have a queen sized bed and my partner is 6ft 5. When we arrived it was a very dated room, nothing like the pictures AT ALL! Not only that it was a double bed not a queen. To top it off the electrics were dodgy, the glass in the door cracked and the room not very clean. We mentioned this after we arrived and were moved rooms to a room with a queen sized bed. We had a choice of two. The room was a bit more modern but still not great. The fridge was dirty, the bathroom dated, the window was cracked and a blind did not open. The restaurant was closed (we did arrive fairly late but were still surprised it was closed) so we had to get delivery. We didnt bother with breakfast as it finishes at 9:00.

Check-in was quick, from what I understand there's only one person that is running the whole thing. Wasn't the friendliest but what to expect when he's the only one doing everything. The room smelt musty, and used shower gel bottles were left on our shower from the previous person staying in there. Didn't use the kettle or the cups as they didn't look like they were cleaned properly. The room overall could do with some TLC, looks nothing like the photos on the website. The plus is the location of the hotel, it's 30 minutes from Oxford town centre, 15 minutes to Blenheim Palace and only 7 minutes to Bicester Village. Oh, and the fire alarm went off at 5:59 one morning and we were all left out in the courtyard with no information. It then continued to go off most of the day. Thankfully we were heading out as I would have gone crazy. I feel that the rooms could do with a mini-fridge and an update. The lack of care is letting the place down.

Quaint hotel perfect for a weekend gateway

I recently stayed at a charming hotel for a short break and, overall, it was a pleasant experience. However, I did encounter a few issues that could be improved upon. Firstly, finding the entrance during my late-night check-in was quite challenging due to inadequate lightning. It took me a few minutes if wandering around before I finally located the entrance, which left me a bit frustrated after a long journey. A little more illumination in the area would go a long way in enhancing the arrival experience for the guests. Once inside, I was pleasantly surprised by the quaintness of the hotel. My suite was well-appointed and provided a cozy atmosphere that made it perfect for a relaxing gateway. However, while the suite itself was great, the services offered could definitely be improved. I found the staff was friendly but lacking attentiveness at times. The reception was left unmanned and the staff wouldn't respond to the bell at the desk. The shower gel in the bathroom required topping up. Such things could have been checked before the guest's arrival. In summary, my stay was enjoyable and fulfilling, with the hotel's charming ambiance and cozy suite making it worth the trip. If the entrance visibility and staff service were addressed, this hotel could easily become a favorite for weekend gateways. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a short, peaceful break, but be prepared to navigate a few minor inconveniences.

We arrived at the 3pm check in time to be greeted by all the staff sitting around having something to eat. We were then told our room was not ready and to come back in an hour. When we came back there was noone to be seen at reception and we waited a good ten minutes until we saw anyone to ask. The only positives i can say about the room is it was large, clean and the bed was not uncomfortable. The rest was awful. The wardrobe was literally falling to bits, there were holes in the wall. The place was in complete disprepair. In the evening we went down to the bar for a drink and we were met by the staff sitting around drinking beer and then given a selection of about 2 cans of soft drink and told "the company arent supplying us with drinks anymore" so we paid £5 for 2 cans of diet coke and sat in the courtyard area. We then went back up to the room to sleep and had the worst nights sleep ever. The road noise was disturbing and inside the room you could hear every single noise in the hotel including presumably the staff (as we saw no other guests) making considerable noise until 3:30am! Would not stay here again and would definitely not recommend!!!
