Oceanfront Suites at Cowichan Bay

The hotel is nice but its super old - I'm not sure we'd ever stay there again. I just got it for the ocean view. The restaurant has amazing food, however!!! My biggest disappointment is that there was no shower curtain and we slept in so by the time we went to take a shower at 10:30am before checking out at 11, we had to forgo showers. I told the front desk when we checked out who didn't say much or apologize or anything.

wish there was warning regarding the noise and the smell of the sea lions. Was supposed to be a quiet study trip and had many restless nights. The front desk was kind and accommodating however and offered earplugs

My wife and I stayed here for a week,end oct to first of nov,while visiting family.The ocean bay view was really nice to see and the lion seals were there all over some docks due to the yearly salmon run we were told.Due to covid local business hours were shorter but most open.The restaurant on 5th floor was really nice and all staff we spoke to at this establishment were kind and helpful.

A very pleasant stay in a spacious and comfortable room with an incredible view. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the restaurant had great food and a fantastic view. I would not hesitate to recommend.

Staff were amazing! No choice, but to relax. Beautiful view, quaint shops and restaurants-and the Sea Lions of course. What a lovely spot!

When we walked into the room, it smelt musty and old! This did get better after had turned up the heat, and maintenance came an installed an air filter mechanisim after we complained to the front desk clerk. Room furnishings were old and the unit could use a complete remake.

Our first room was not clean. The second room was just ok. I sanitized. Housekeeper needs to be more attentive to detail. The accommodation was really nice. Had separate living area with kitchen and beautiful ocean view.

Pros - Ocean, marine view, suite with separate bedroom, sliding patio doors to view, stove and fridge, friendly staff. Cons - could be cleaner overall, glass rings on table, stains on couch, messy paint job and dirty corners, didn’t walk barefoot anywhere, one hand towel and one bath towel each? No ‘offer’ or check in by staff to even change sheets or towels the 4 days we stayed? Incomplete kitchen utencils (no spoons?), no paper towels or anything to wipe or clean up with in kitchen? Yes, we could/should have asked for all these things but they could/should have been in suite to begin with. Seal migration was upon us and although loud all day and night, it was a special site and sound to behold. Front staffers very kind and patient.
