The area around the hotel is a nice part of town, it didn't feel unsafe and I wasn't very worried about the car outside. It's close enough to the French Quarter to walk to everything, and it's also walking distance to the nearest streetcar station, so it's convenient for getting around. Parking was fine while we were there. It's free to park on the street outside and there was room to park across the street whenever we got back. The hotel has a nice private courtyard, and there is a gate with a code that you go through to access the courtyard, then keys to get into the individual rooms, so things felt secure. The staff were great.
Overall, I would definitely stay at the hotel again due to the safety, staff, and location. Some criticism I had of the hotel are that it was pretty outdated and need a refresh. Everything worked fine, but a lot of fixtures seemed like they had been in use for awhile and had seen better days. It didn't feel dirty and I didn't see anything that made me seriously question the room's cleanliness. The sheets were showing their age, but definitely clean, and I didn't see any bugs. The only primary issue I had was that the door has built in blinds, and ours was missing a big piece at the bottom. Since the rooms are slightly elevated from the courtyard, I think it was possible to see into our room from the ground. We stacked our luggage in front of the door to block light and visibility, but it was my biggest issue with the room.
