Stayed at the Occidental Resort for my 33rd wedding anniversary. It was a disaster. It started with getting into our room, which was quite nice other than some cleanliness issues and functional problems. The water pressure in the shower was so low that the rain shower would not engage and the handheld just drizzled water. Next the closet door got stuck and we were unable to remove our clothes. It took about 4 ½ hours for this to be corrected. We had a wonderful butler named Jenfry advocated for us, and we went to check out another room, it had the same water pressure issues. Finally, we were moved to another room, which was posed as an upgrade to the First Club area, however, the room was much smaller than our original room. It did have a larger TV and a working shower. I’m sorry but, this is not an upgrade to me having a functioning shower is an expectation not an upgrade. The front door was cut so wrongly that it let in loads of light due to it’s ill fit, it even had a large crack in the upper section. Also, the last room had a phone that wasn’t working because we did not have a jack for it to plug into.
Other issues included rude staff, a severe language barrier and the cleanliness of the resort. For starters I found a wad of hair in my clean bath towels that was not mine. The chair in our new room was stained and had no cushion whatsoever so it was not worth the space that it took up. The beach was beautiful, but the chairs were disgusting, I wouldn’t even
