Everything, as usual, was wonderful at Bernardus. I have stayed here several times with my husband, but this time I was here for a short stay with my two teenage daughters. We spent our time lounging by the pool (which was kept at a perfect temperature), playing bocce ball, croquet, or just relaxing in our room by the fireplace or on our balcony. The food was delicious in the bar, and we had the option to order from the Lucia menu for more options if we wanted. Gabe is a master mixologist and the craft cocktails in the bar are a testament to his creativity and expertise. When I prefer wine, the sommelier Michael always points me in the right direction. I truly cannot say enough good things about how much I love this property and their excellent staff. No question that we will be back.

Bernardus Lodge is a first-class experience in our favorite part of Carmel — the valley. Wonderful food, service and rooms. There’s nothing to complain about.

Amazing totally worth it !!!

This is a wonderful resort property and one of our favorite places for a "local" getaway. The onsite restaurant (Lucia) is world class, and we had a spectacular and memorable birthday dinner there. Rooms are spacious, well appointed, and comfortable. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed the "adults only" hottub and the croquet court. Breakfast at Lucia was also exceptional. The onsite spa is lovely and truly offers an escape like atmosphere. Our only complaint was that the spa pricing seemed a bit steep to me (services were exceptional, but still...), and a 20% gratuity is added ON TOP of what were already high prices. I recommended to the spa staff that they offer locals discounts, or perhaps other lodging "bundles" or discount credits to hotel guests. I would stay there again in a heartbeat (we're regulars anyway, and will continue to stay here when we need a mini getaway), but I would consider another spa in town with more reasonable prices. Overall our stay was excellent, however, and this establishment is well run by expert staff and offers a wonderful escape.
