Upon arriving at the hotel around 11:45 PM, after a long day of travel, I was informed that the front desk could not process my check-in because their computer system was undergoing an overnight update. Despite calling the hotel information line earlier in the evening (10:30 PM) to ask specifically about late check-in, I was advised simply to use the outside phone to reach the front desk, with no mention of this potential issue.
When I arrived and used the phone, the staff member was unable to complete the check-in due to the system being down. I again called the operator line and was told there was nothing they could do and that I would need to find another hotel. No alternatives, accommodations, or assistance were offered.
This left me stranded late at night with nine pieces of luggage and equipment bags, forced to arrange last-minute accommodations at another hotel. I ultimately paid over $400, plus the added expense of an Uber ride. More significantly, I lost valuable rest, managing only about four hours of sleep before beginning an intensive two-week work commitment the following morning. This unnecessary stress, expense, and loss of rest were unacceptable.
I did not receive any prior notice online, during booking, or on the day of travel that check-in could be denied due to system downtime. Had I known, I would have made alternative arrangements.
I was not offered any type of compensation.
Very disappointed with experience.
