Hard to believe how underdeveloped this area of an English coastline is. People are very hospitable and kind, but the infrastructure is comparable to so called third world countries …

awful guesthouse not a hotel.below 1 star dirty
Wasnt aware that we were not booked to a hotel and that we had to walk to a guest house 5 mins down the road this information was never shared with us. Hotel bar is rowdy, there was a fight and the customers in the bar clearly on drugs. had my phone stolen by a women who also the room 3/44 tired and dated curtains hanging off rail, wardrobe old and falling apart door falling off bed side table. dirty cushions on bed, carpets floor had not been hovered, toilet seat broken. generally musty and not fir for purpose, was told breakfast included on check in but no option given for room only had to return to main pub by 9am, there was no way id eat in this place so we skipped the breakfast and went else where to eat. I wo9uld not recommend this place to any one and would never stay here again below 1 star

Very dated and poor decoration. The stay wasn’t on the beach front hotel as expected and booked but instead walked to a room in a guest house down a side road which is not what I booked.

George the Owner was forthcoming, along with his staff made my stay comfortable and happy throughout so I like to congratulate this establishment and would recommend further to all that reads my review to stay there and what a beautiful building too looks over the Thames estuary beautiful to wake up to with the panoramic views from my room amazing.

We paid b4 seeing room and were walked up a road away from hotel to a hmo . The room was not as described and a tenantvin the building left front entrance door open. The light at top of stairs outside room would not come on and i slipped on the top stair in dark.

We stayed in a separate building 5 moms away up the street Very quiet location up street with a Lovely clean room, great breakfast and the Staff were very helpful. Beach, Funfair, amusement very close. Town centre 10 mins walk. Would definitely recommend

Was diverted down a side street to another property away from hope hotel without prior notice.room was in a converted house into rooms. Definitely not a deluxe . Asked about evening meal in hotel told it was closed. Toilet flush not working. Stairs to upstairs room too narrow and caused a problem as OAPs. No breakfast the following day all in all Definitely not worth the money very disappointing would not stay again 😑

I booked the Hope Hotel for myself and my partner, with my friends booking a separate room. Together we paid a total of over £200. When we checked in, we were taken out of the hotel, and down the road to a ‘guesthouse’ which was effectively a student accommodation. The room was dirty, the lights were covered in dusk and cobwebs. The bathroom floor hadn’t been cleaned so it made my feet dirty, so I had to clean it myself. Following this, the shower didn’t work. The owner tried to tell us breakfast would ‘be over by 8:45’ when all signage said 9:30. My friends room was just as dirty, their shower did not drain so after one of them showered, no one else could. Their window was broken open so the room was freezing. My friends complained and received a refund pf £30, which didn’t even cover the charge for breakfast. We were given nothing. This was raised with hotels.com and the hotel said that the £30 was for BOTH rooms? And refused to do anything about it. The owner was rude and dismissive. The check in staff and bar staff however are lovely, though seem to be working with the best they have. Avoid, better off in a chain that deals with things when they do go wrong

I like the fact that the property is right the at the heart of the sea and all the exciting activities to do. The down side is the fact that the hotel do not have leaflet of taxis, tours or any other relevant information to facilitate customers moving around or eat out.

Would not recommend.
Arrived & was walked out to a guest house that is only comparable to a morbid student house. Horrendous, low quality furniture, not clean & generally uncomfortable to be in.

Decent Stay but could be improvements
Mixed feelings really. We booked the hotel as it was on the seafront. However on checking in we were shown to our room which wasn't actually on the seafront but 5 mins up the road next door! This is not good when all your friends are in the main hotel & so is the breakfast hall. The positives were that the staff were really friendly, breakfast was good, our room was a good size, fully equiped, came with sky should we have needed it & the beds & pillows were comfy. However the room got very hot & the two fans provided were not good enough to cool it down. The key to the front door of the building was also dodgy & it took us ages to open the door on both occasions. For the price it was good value but i would have preferred to have been told before hand that we were not staying in the main hotel & feel this should be mentioned when booking.

I booked a hotel room and on arrival after booking in we were walked up the road to a rundown guest house, the condition of the room was unbelievable curtains not hung draw fronts hanging off cracked tiles in bathroom toilet flush handle broken the list goes on! No tv remote which they said would be replaced. Had to book out and rebook new hotel at vast expense.. Horrendous!!
