Phi Phi Islands offer a fair deal of off-the-beaten things to do, despite its ever-growing popularity among travellers. It's safe to say that some sites of this outstanding group of islands – Maya Bay, for example – attract large crowds during high season.
As every cloud has a silver lining, the islands still host excellent activities and areas mostly unknown to the masses. We've compiled a list of thrilling, out-of-the-ordinary things to discover in Phi Phi. Some of them may require a good level of fitness, but most are suitable for all ages.

Loh Bagao is a bay on the east coast of Koh Phi Phi Don. While it's famous for housing Phi Phi Island Village Beach Resort, not many people know of the area just behind the resort. There's a small village with shops, bars and restaurants, a mangrove forest, and trails – including a ‘Golden Gate-style’ bridge which leads to the west coast of Phi Phi. Must-visits include Laem Thong Beach and Lana Bay, as well as a nice viewpoint overlooking the Andaman Sea.

อ่านเพิ่มเติมChallenge yourself with a hike through hills covered with lush vegetation, which lie between Phi Phi Viewpoint and Lana Bay. It takes roughly 2 hours to get there from Tonsai Village. Navigation is the main challenge as, in the jungle, all trails are similar to each other. Take precautions before starting your hike – wear good sports shoes, bring enough snacks and water, and most importantly, avoid going alone unless you have a lot of experience.
A smartphone with Google Maps can help you to navigate your way around. You can hire a longtail boat from Lana and Bagao Bay to get back to Tonsai Village.

อ่านเพิ่มเติมRock climbing is a very popular activity as Phi Phi's geological formation offers a fair choice of scaling walls and routes. Some of the most popular walls are on and around Tonsai Tower at the western end of Tonsai Bay.
If you're experienced in rock climbing, there's an outstanding site on Phi Phi Don’s west coast. Nui Beach stands just south of Lana Bay, featuring a notable rock climbing spot named Hua Ling. It has 4 routes graded from 6a+ to 6c, all of which overlook the Andaman Sea.

Cliff jumping in Phi Phi is quite popular – the island hosted the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series finals in 2013. Koh Phi Phi Don and Leh have excellent tombstoning spots. The most notable sites are at Maya Bay, a cliff near Viking Cave, and at Monkey Bay. Thrillseekers will enjoy the feeling of jumping off from limestone cliffs and into the sea.
Note: Cliff jumping is very dangerous, so be aware of the risk you take.

อ่านเพิ่มเติมHin Phae has splendid coral reef in shallow waters, making it a nice spot to swim and snorkel with sharks in Koh Phi Phi. Located about 200 metres from the southern end of Long Beach, the best way to get there is by joining a boat tour that provides all the equipment. You can also hire a long-tail boat from Long Beach to get to this snorkelling spot.
Once you're there, the trick is to search for sharks in the distance. You’ll soon see a couple of blacktip reef sharks, which measure between 80 to 120 cm in length. These creatures are rather timid and harmless, so approach them slowly.
