When it comes to dining in Bangkok, the question is not what, where, or even when to eat. With so many possibilities across the capital, you might be wondering how to make the most of it all. Whether you’re looking for style, ambience and flavour that defies anything you’ve experienced before, or a brush with world-recognised celebrity chefs, Bangkok has got a whole lot to offer.

With several Michelin-affiliated chefs moving to Bangkok, and numerous venues located inside luxury hotels, most of these restaurants do not come cheap. One thing for sure is the majority of these Bangkok dining spots are on the bucket lists of true foodies and culinary adventurers.

    Le Du Restaurant

Le Du, located in the fine-dining haven of Silom, offers highly creative cuisine courtesy of a young Thai-born chef who, along with his team, has won over critics for his visionary techniques and approaches.

Despite its French-sounding name, Le Du is not a French restaurant at all… le du means 'season' in Thai and categorising the menu can be a bit difficult. It could be defined as 'young creative cuisine with Thai roots' – with touches from many international origins. And here, ‘young’ doesn’t mean amateur – Chef Ton at Le Du has an accomplished culinary background.

    Bunker

Bunker Restaurant in Bangkok, set in a cool 3-storey building in Sathorn, serves refined cuisine, picking dishes from across the culinary traditions of Europe with the addition of some American bravado. Their belief in strong flavours is apparent throughout the menu: salads are served earthy and partially raw, the cured foie gras is especially creamy, the pasta is rich and filling.

Bunker serves immaculate cuisine, but it's also a fashionable, intimate space with impeccable service – certainly among the best high-end restaurants in Bangkok.

    Mezzaluna at Lebua Hotel

Mezzaluna is a truly exceptional fine-dining restaurant located inside the iconic golden 'Dome' at the top of the Lebua hotel. Famed for its set menus that come in 4 or 7 courses only, Mezzaluna impresses with a new daily menu of world-class haute cuisine prepared by a visionary chef.

Chef Ryuki Kawasaki has worked his way around the world in a game of ‘who’s who’ with culinary giants including Pierre Gagnaire and Joël Robuchon. This is an expensive restaurant (close to 5,000 baht for 4 courses, 6,000 baht for 7 courses), but if you’re looking to dazzle someone on a special occasion, Mezzaluna is a top consideration.

    Sühring Restaurant

Sühring Restaurant would grace any city in the world, so the fact they decided to open in Bangkok is a great boon for the city. The modern German cuisine is truly exceptional and the familial setting feels inviting and genuine.

Opened by the famed twin chefs Thomas and Mathias Sühring (known best in Bangkok from their celebrated tenure at Mezzaluna), this was a high-profile restaurant opening because they serve something previously unknown to Bangkok’s fine-dining lovers: seasonal, high-end German cuisine.

    Eat Me

Eat Me. The name is less of a suggestion and more a promise of something irresistible. This gallery and restaurant on Soi Convent in Silom lives up to its name by serving mouthwatering modern international food, good drinks and some very tasty desserts.

The restaurant has been wowing the crowds for years, which is no mean feat given Bangkok’s fickle dining scene and even fickler diners. Things are kept fresh with ever-changing art exhibitions, an inventive menu and a smart casual dress code.

    Enoteca Italiana

Enoteca Italiana is without a doubt one of the most successful Italian restaurants in Bangkok. Despite being hidden at the end of a very narrow street, it's full every day. The menu offers classic Italian dishes as well as more experimental options.

Well-known and popular among long-time residents keen on fine cuisine, Enoteca ranks highly in many travel and gourmet guides, so it's best to make a phone call the day before to secure your romantic dinner. Of course, the price is a bit high but it's worth every baht.

    Sensi

Sensi Bangkok ticks all the boxes for a modern, creative Italian restaurant: urbane décor, crisp white table cloths and some of the most charming service we have experienced in Bangkok. Classic Italian dishes are approached from surprising angles here and guests are sure to experience well-known dishes in new, innovative ways.

Sensi Bangkok is a family affair and while the Italian chef is busy in the kitchen, his wife takes care of the front of the house. Their passion comes across impressively. Proof of this is an often fully packed restaurant at 7pm on a Thursday. Diners are free to choose a la carte or from a 5- or 7-course tasting menu that changes daily according to available produce.

    Water Library Chamchuri

The Water Library at Chamchuri has been one of the key players in Bangkok’s fine-dining scene, with its successful team having opened several other venues around the city. Even so, their Chamchuri flagship remains a top choice.

The restaurant’s concept is sometimes described by vague terms such as ‘contemporary western’ or ‘European with a twist’, but after trying their seasonal set menu, you’d easily think it's best described as immaculately plated French haute cuisine, with plenty of the classics making an appearance such as foie gras, scallops and pigeon.
