Food and Dining in Luang Prabang
Luang Prabang travel guide
You’ll get more variety at Luang Prabang restaurants than most cities in Laos. The eclectic range of menus in this small town fuse traditional European fare (including crusty baguettes, hearty stews, and succulent steaks) with the spicy and exotic flavours of Southeast Asia.
Try Luang Prabang specialties such as sai gok – a pork sausage infused with chilli, garlic, lemongrass, galangal, kaffir leaves, shallots, cilantro, and fish sauce. Another must-try is or lam or Lao stew with indigenous ingredients such as chilies, wood ear mushrooms, cilantro, green onion, and a local vine called mai sa kaan.
