We spent a day traveling from Colorado after having camped the 3 nights prior. We were exhausted, driving home to Missouri, so I reserved our room online, looking forward to a soak in the hot tub to assure a wonderful night of sleep. We arrived at approximately 8:30 pm and as I checked in, I asked what time the pool and hot tub closed. The clerk said they were not available due to maintenance. What!!?? Although this hotel was more expensive than most all of the others, our deciding factor to stay here was so that we could enjoy the hot tub and/or pool and relieve some stress from a long day of driving. I let the clerk know that we were disappointed but I wasn’t rude about it. After all, he doesn’t have control of those types of situations. I did, however, ask if he would upgrade our room or at least discount our reservation. He stated he could do neither. He offered to cancel our reservation so that we could find another hotel. At 8:30 pm, it’s too late to find another hotel because by the time you find one, their pool/hot tub would be closing soon. We were cutting it close as it was. My frustration continued as he was not at all apologetic, nor the least bit empathetic to our situation. He just wanted to refund us and send us on our way. This was pretty poor customer service for an overpriced hotel that did not offer the amenities that were advertised. The rooms were nice. The breakfast was very good. It’s unfortunate that customer service left a very bad impression.
