Riga was a delight to visit. Lots of interesting things to see. We did a walking tour of the old town with GuruWalks, which was amazing. We did a guided tour of the KGB headquarters, and visited the house of the Blackheads. Christmas market was good.

Charming and unpretentious, vibrant and full of history and culture, with young people actively enjoying their summer, families with their children, and a manageable amount of visitors, this city is one of the most authentic places we have visited.

Riga is a very clean city, easy to walk around. Great architecture and many nice well-kept parks. The only negative is that eating out is quite expensive. Riga is a must-do if you are interested in short city breaks.

Public transport is still cheap, you can (2024) use cash & the newer ViVi trains contactless facility is up & running too, validate it when you board! Most stations for Jurmala (Baltic beaches) are 2 euro one way takes about 30 mins, twice hourly.

"We had an exceptional experience at the Radisson Blu Elizabete Hotel. The staff were warm, welcoming, and incredibly helpful. A special thank you to Janis at check-in and Elina at checkout—both went above and beyond to make us feel at home.
The room was very comfortable, and we really appreciated the refillable water bottle and filtered water station—a small touch that made a big difference. The location was also ideal, with plenty to see, eat, and do just steps away.
When we return to Riga, we’ll absolutely stay here again!"
"Excellent stay, nice place, great location. Only beef I had is that there was no ice machine? Anywhere on the property? No Ice!? Other than that small issue I would stay again."
"Had a lovely stay in Riga. Beautiful city. Hotel is very conveniently located on the edge of the old town and near the bus and train stations
One minor disappointment was that the website list laundry facilities and laundry service. There are no laundry facilities at the hotel. However we were referred to a great laundromat "
"Very nice modern comfortable room in a recent addition to the hotel. The only inconvenience was that one of us had to wait in the car on the street, while the other went to the reception to pay for the parking and get the instructions on how to get there. Fortunately, the line at the reception was not very long at that time. After parking, we had to line up at the reception for check-in again. The parking was only a few minutes walk to the hotel along a closed street in the old town. There is a very big (mostly food) market at about 10 min walk from the hotel. "
