This is a very interesting place. It's a couple blocks south of Thamel and may be hard to find It's about a block south of Chhetrapati Circle, with a small, illuminated white sign on the west side of the street, then west down a small street too small for a car. We did two stays here, before and after our trek. For the first stay, we were in the new building, as we had read that the ceilings were too low in the old one. Our room was large and basic. Most importantly, there was always hot water in the shower. Breakfast is included and is excellent. During our first stay, the manager showed us the top floors in the far more interesting main building, which we chose for our second visit. We stayed in 501, which does not have low ceilings; nor does 301, where our friend stayed. Some lower rooms clearly did have very low ceilings. Bumping my head on the stairways multiple times was well worth it, as we preferred 501 over our room in the new building. Our room was huge, with AC, lots of outlets, a gas shower, and a table and chairs outside on a large patio. We also used the hotel's car and driver for a day; it is more expensive than a taxi, but new and clean. The only minor shortcoming was cleanliness. In each room, we had to ask for our floors to be mopped, but in the hotel's defense, the dust in Kathmandu is relentless.
