We stayed here for several nights at the beginning of our trip around Sri Lanka to give us some rest and to visit Colombo. The hotel is nice enough – a little rough around the edges but perfectly fine. A/C and fan in the room, hard but big bed, safe, huge shower with strong water pressure and an abundance of hot water. Only thing we didn’t like was that the room had no fridge – in the heat of Negombo, cold water was essential so not having a fridge meant we constantly had to buy cold water as and when we needed it. Luckily there is a small convenience store 1 min walk form the hotel that was selling basic drinks and snacks for a bargain price (1litred bottle of water cost about 25p). Also, as soon as walked along the beach we were hassled by relentless hawkers. We ended up sitting in the hotel garden instead (padded sun loungers and free towels provided) – the hawkers would still call out to you but were not allowed to enter hotel grounds, so that offered some degree of peace. For ease, we ate at the hotel for dinner twice: limited menu with nothing too special on it, your standard mix of European staples (burgers and pizza) with one or two Sri Lankan meals. All very reasonably priced – a chicken pizza cost about £3 (just be wary of the bones!). There are a few restaurants within walking distance of the hotel along the main road,
