Lovely place lovely people

8/10 Good

Staff were all lovely! Locals also very nice, real friendly village feel in the bar. Food was good and lovely little garden to sit out the back and escape the heat! Rooms were basic but did the job for our one night stay. Saw some photos online before going that worried us but room and bathroom and all public spaces very clean so don’t be put off!

Such welcoming staff who were so helpful in the morning. Breakfast was wonderful, really tasty and lots of variety. The full Scottish breakfast was a firm favourite! The room was super clean and quiet. A lovely stay if you want to be away from the hustle and bustle, which a quaint village feel. This has a family feel to it! Thank you, my 7 year old son would love to stay again.

6/10 Okay

Loved the town and area. People very hospitable. Cute hotel and very reasonable but the room was so small the bed hit the door. If you don’t mind extra tight quarters then go for it.

Stains on carpets and chairs, dirty glasses and cups, no pillow case on one pillow, water pressure in shower just a trickle.

Eva Marie Cabarle, 3-night trip

6/10 Okay

Our room, number 3, was on the front of the building, opposite a very busy train track, which resulted in disturbed sleep. Trains ran throughout the night. The window was an old sash window with single glazing, which we had to pad out to stop from rattling. The room was very small, with no room for a bedside table and barely any room to get into the bed, which also wasn't the most comfortable. Breakfast and the lady serving it, was the best part of the stay.

East Linton Hotel

Had a one night stay here on route to the Highlands. Spotlessly clean and bed very comfy. Choice of cereal/ full Scottish on offer for breakfast. I opted for poached eggs on toast, which was nice. No car park as such, but plenty of on road parking. Wouldn't hesitate to use again.

Place was dirty room 5 was so small you could not swing a cat around in it. Bed was uncomfortable and needed a new mattress.

4/10 Poor

We really, really wanted to like this place and in the end we didn’t. It has a lot of potential and hopefully the family running this place can get it sorted. The staff was friendly but we went into Edinburgh for the evening and had trouble getting in to the hotel when we got back late. We had told them we would be coming back late so we were surprised at the trouble, I wish they had just given us a night key. The room we had was at the top of the building and somehow collected all of the cooking smells from the evening. The mattress was past its prime and uncomfortable. There was something wrong with the water pressure so showering was challenging. Dinner was good and was a good value. Breakfast on the other hand was nothing short of amazing.
The room we had was cute and cozy. That bed needs a new mattress.
Fresh caught local fish special of the day on a risotto.
Easy access to a bus that runs straight into Edinburgh.
Thomas, 1-night trip

Friendly staff & great food.
James, 3-night trip

8/10 Good

We loved our stay at the Linton Hotel, the only issue was that the shower seemed to have no cold water supply, meaning it was too hot even on the lowest setting. Other than that everything was fine.

Lovely Linton

We had a lovely stay. Made very welcome by friendly staff. The room was very clean and all we required. The food is excellent. Produce from local sources. The adjoining bar was relaxed and price off drinks very good. We’ll be back. Well done the Linton Hotel and steakhouse.
