It was a beautiful hotel - it is like a large property surrounded by gardens and villas. The setting on the foothills of the mountains overlooking the Central Valley and surrounded by coffee farms was amazing. It is cool and fresh in the morning and we sat on the veranda enjoying the view with a cup of local coffee. Lovely boutique-style built run hotel. Everything is exactly as described and pictured. We only stayed a night to break a long journey prior to flying out of SJO the following afternoon, but there's plenty to do in the area and it would make a great base if staying a little longer. Very comfortable beds, it was one of our best nights sleep of our trip! We had dinner in Alajuela, about 10 mins drive away with loads of choice, and went back to the town to kill a couple of hours the next day...

Perfect first night hotel after a long flight. The hotel arranged an airport pick up for us. The room was very comfortable. All the staff were friendly & helpful. Food at the restaurant was great and reasonably priced. Would definitely stay here again.

Another enjoyable stay. Room with Mountain View was slightly nosier than the one that faced the garden. That said good nights sleep with a good breakfast and restaurant. Highly recommend.

I had an excellent stay at the Canal Grande Lodge. The staff were wonderful, really friendly and helpful and the hotel was spotless with large spacious rooms. It also had a lovely outdoor space with a pool and amazing views. A good option for those who are looking to stay close to San Jose airport but away from the busy streets of San Jose.

We stayed here for 10 days and it was lovely, really enjoyed! The breakfast and snacks was particularly good.

What a gem, very close to the airport (2 km), good value and genuinely attractive, with a colonial style, rooms have balconies and the garden is tropical and full of exotic plants and trees - one is 300 years old.

This was a great hotel, incredible views and comfortable room. Staff were friendly, will definitely want to visit and stay here again. Loved the breakfast in the morning.

The people that work here are wonderful and it feels more like a great bed and breakfast than a hotel. It's a great place to stay if you want to feel and experience the country of Costa Rica not just another hotel. I highly recommend

Breakfast was good with mix of local and international foods. We were on the 6th (premier) floor, so had access to the lounge. That was a great bonus, woth wines, beer, and a selection of food available all day as needed. Great hotel at a good price.

Good breakfast and close to the airport. Comfortable and clean room

Very interesting architecture, the ceiling height is not very high, if you are 2.5 metres tall you may have problems. Other than this, everything is awesome.
