Praia da Rocha
Praia da Rocha dazzles with golden cliffs towering over a stunning beach where Atlantic waves crash against dramatic limestone formations. The lively boardwalk fills with sun-seekers during the day while the vibrant strip lights up with bars and restaurants after dark. Casino tables glitter under neon lights as sunset paints the rock arches in warm amber hues. Seafood-focused restaurants line the beachfront offering fresh grilled fish and traditional cataplana stews. Most hotels feature pools and sea views, with options ranging from large resorts to apartment complexes. The area is highly walkable along the main strip, with taxis readily available for trips to nearby Portimão.

Prainha
Prainha's golden beaches tucked between dramatic limestone cliffs are a slice of Portuguese paradise for sun-seekers. The clifftop paths offer jaw-dropping Atlantic views while secluded coves provide perfect swimming spots away from the crowds. Beach lovers can split their time between the main stretch of sand and exploring the hidden gems of Tres Irmaos Beach with its distinctive rock formations. Upscale dining spots serve fresh seafood on sunset-facing terraces, though reservations are a must during busy seasons. Most visitors stay in luxury villas or holiday apartments with private pools and ocean views. The entire resort area is walkable, but you'll want a hire car to explore beyond this exclusive beachside haven.

Portimão City Centre
Portimão's city centre wraps you in riverside charm with its gorgeous promenade along the Arade River. Stroll the waterfront where local restaurants dish up grilled sardines and cataplana stews with killer views. The buzzing municipal market lets you sample Algarve specialities while the 19th-century Igreja Matriz church adds a perfect touch of history to your wanderings. Most attractions are within easy walking distance, though cobblestone streets might test your cute shoes. Boutique guesthouses in converted traditional buildings offer that personal touch you won't find in big hotels. The compact layout means you can easily explore by foot, with local buses connecting you to nearby beaches whenever the ocean calls.

Torralta
Torralta's golden beaches and dramatic cliffs create the perfect backdrop for sun-soaked getaways. The area offers direct access to stunning Praia da Rocha where you can soak up rays or take scenic walks along oceanfront promenades. Nearby Tres Irmaos Beach and Alvor Boardwalk provide additional spots to enjoy the Atlantic's beauty or catch breathtaking sunsets. Resort-style accommodation dominate the area, from upscale hotels to apartment complexes with ocean views and pool access. Beachfront restaurants serve fresh seafood with spectacular views, while the pedestrian-friendly layout makes exploring a breeze. For authentic Portuguese experiences, venture into central Portimão just a short taxi ride away.

Penina Hotel & Golf Resort
"Excellent Family holiday staying at Penina. Relaxing hotel with friendly helpful staff. Warm welcome on arrival with a glass of port and overview of the hotel. Really nice way to start our stay. Great facilities for kids and adults with tennis courts, jogging track, driving range, golf courses, large pool and multiple dining options. Played Championship course twice and enjoyed - greens, tees and fairways all in good order and great value for money. My son and I also had excellent golf lessons with Jose Lourenco - knowledgeable, friendly, genuine passion for what he does. All golf staff were excellent, really welcoming and friendly. Special shout out to Sandra, Carlos and Vasco. Excellent breakfast buffet and omelette station, the Italian restaurant, Cotton Clubhouse bar and the pool bar all good too. In all areas the service was very good and were brilliant with my sons (11 and 5) Great bonus having access to the Dunas beach club at Alvor beach with 50% discount on sun loungers and umbrella ( €10 for 1/2 day) and free towels, private beach bar also excellent. Easy 10 minute commute to Alvor, which is a really nice coastal town with cobbled streets, and an excellent range of restaurants. Would definitely recommend this hotel if staying in the area due to facilities, service and easy commute to Alvor. Thank you all at Penina!"
Jupiter Marina Hotel - Couples & Spa
"it was great they even upgraded are room for free! Wonderful stay"
RR Alvor Baía Resort
"We are a family of 4 and we had a large room with a double bed and a separate portion with 2 single beds which was fantastic and prob the biggest balcony. This resort was immaculate and rooms cleaned daily to a high standard. The staff at the reception and the restaurants were really helpful. The courtesy bus to the beach was amazing too so no need to walk 20 minutes to the beach. The only small negatives were that there was no iron in the facility (but they offered a paid laundry service) and that you had to pay for the gym (based on the price, all inclusive members shouldnt have to pay as its not a cheap resort). Other that that everything was nice"
