We very much enjoyed our stay at Dr Holmes Hotel. This is an older hotel with interesting styles of decor. There are also many historic paintings and artifacts. The staff were all helpful and friendly. Our dinner was excellent and we would certainly return.

Charming old hotel

We got a spacious family room in the first floor with natural light and views of the mountain across the valley. Unfortunately, it was not sound proof and one could hear music from the hotel bar until around midnight. Good breakfast w several options. We enjoyed the proximity to the slopes, the indoor pool and the bowling alley. Dinner at the hotel was good, specially the service.

Large, sprawling, quirky hotel. Lots of interesting old photos, decor items throughout the many common areas - fun to explore. Small but adequate room, comfortable beds, everything we needed. Quiet at this time of year, but still plenty of guests. Really enjoyed the stay.

Very dissapointing. I booked a room with a view for me and my wife and it was absolutely filthy (bugs crawling on the bathroom floor, hair there and on the bedsheets). When complained we were offered a free downgrade (!). We were moved to a room without a view and could move to a new one a day later. The reception staff was absolutely indifferent and the hotel entirely ignorred us reaching to them regarding this matter.

Probably run down, empty hotel and the reception gave us the baddest room with no view. The reception was not aligned at all with the accomodation...I'm sure there's is better choices at Geilo than this. Pick better options.

Der alte Hotelteil als solcher ist beeindruckend. Es gibt wirklich sehr schöne Aufenthaltsräume, alles ist sehr großzügig angelegt und man kann erahnen warum das Hotel einmal „legendary“ war. Während die Zimmer als solche durchaus OK sind, weht im Bad der Geist der 60er…was aber wirklich nicht gut ist - das Hotel spart offensichtlich eklatant an Personal! Eine Bar ist ganz geschlossen, die zweite nur sporadisch besetzt, die meiste Zeit müssen Getränke an der Rezeption geordert werden, wo man zwar bemüht aber auch unterbesetzt ist. Besonders eklatant fällt der Personalmangel beim Frühstück auf - eine Person die heillos überfordert versucht, Speisen und Getränke nachzufüllen…kann nicht klappen! Schade! So wird das nichts mit dem „legendary Hotel“….
