Beijing was my hometown. I grew up here before I went to America. I love this city. During the past two decades this city had changed a lot. It is now so modern and almost sci-fi like in some parts. But I still love the historical side of this city.

Excellent
Highlights for me were a food tour and The Great Wall (despite the heat). I recommend a visit but avoid the summer to avoid heat and locals also on their summer holidays visiting Beijing. Avoid going to the wall on Mondays if you do go in summer.

Considering the immense size of the city, it was somewhat surprisingly clean, and friendly. It's also very lively and walkable downtown. - strongly recommend checking out the beautiful 'Fragrant Hills Park' on the outskirts of the city.

Beijing is excellent and better than what you would expect. Great food and friendly people but not many speak english. Beautiful combination of modern and ancient capital. Well developed city and convenient to get around.

The Forbidden City is fantastic to see and unbelievably beautiful, complex and large. A tour to the Great Wall of China is brilliant (but the wall, in parts, is very steep to walk even with hand rails).

Good
Plenty of dining options without breaking the bank. Very easy to get around on the metro.
"The staff and service are remarkable, they help us anytime we needed (booking a driver for the Great Wall, tickets and transportation in general).
Food it’s okey, nothing special but clean
Also the room it’s great, very comfortable.
My unique observation is that the hotel is kinda old, and on one of the corners of the room had dust accumulated, also the strainer in the bathroom had bad smell, but with te extractor it was gone"
"The hotel is located directly behind the Dengshikou subway station exit, very convenience. We took a local tour and it happened that the morning meeting point was exactly at that particular exit, so it's just a 1-min walk from the hotel, no stress! There is also a 24-hour convenience store across the hotel to buy water & snacks.
Huge bonus, especially if you're visiting during hot summer, the hotel comes with a self-service laundry facility and they even include the detergent! Being able to easily wash all those sweaty clothes was a lfiesaver, especially in our case that we still had 8 more days in other cities after Beijing.
Breakfast was pretty decent with a lot of variety. AC in the room can be better though. Room is spacious, but pillows can be slightly thicker. One of our rooms was definitely warmer than the other despite turning on the AC continuously for many hours but the hotel staff didn't seem to believe us. It's still an amazing experience overall, would love to stay there again."
