Kinnitty Castle Hotel
"We absolutely loved our stay here! It was such a gorgeous castle and our room made us feel like royalty. It had an amazing shower and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was wonderful! The restaurant was really cool! We would love to come back!"
Woodford Dolmen Hotel
"Clean. Classy both facility and staff !"
The Keadeen Hotel
"Great hotel and staff very helpful"
Midlands Park Hotel
"Lovely hotel but the complimentary water near the lift was horrible. Had to pay €22 euro for car parking which we didn’t know about. Would be better if included in the pricing. Other than that was a pleasant stay."
Maldron Hotel Portlaoise
"The pool is shared with a gym and for folks who are from the US you need a swim cap. The desk staff was perfectly helpful but there is no information about amenities in the room and they don’t provide any info about what you can do in the hotel. The front desk ladies all seemed brand new to the job though. Room was nice though."
The Heritage
"At wedding 10/10/26 lovely hotel great service from start to finish was a great day and night ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️"
Clanard Court
"The hotel is a true old world charm property set in a very peaceful and serene environment. The property is well maintained and the rooms are very comfortable. The bed especially is very comfortable. The food and service is also excellent even though it is very full at weekends as it is a popular wedding and event property. There is a true commitment to quality and sincere warmth in both staff and housekeeping."
The Lodges at Kilkea Castle
"Kilkea Castle was a wonderful stay. Last minute we booked a room in the Lodges; unfortunately, the actual Castle was all booked up. This didn’t lessen the experience though. The lodge room was clean, comfortable, well-appointed and had a fairway view. We were also able to use the facilities in the castle itself. We weren’t there to golf and that was just as well as the course was closed for maintenance. As a golfer the course did look like a premium course, and I’d love to go back for another stay and a round."
Ivyleigh House
"Great location, very accommodating hosts especially given our late arrival. Comfortable bed and fabulous breakfast. Will stay here again"

- Book for the cheapest times: The most affordable time to visit Portlaoise is during January, February, and November, when hotel prices tend to be lower. For those keen on exploring the area's historical landmarks and cultural sites, a stay of at least 1 to 2 days is recommended. This duration allows visitors to enjoy budget-friendly dining options, charming cafes, and the welcoming atmosphere created by the friendly locals. Additionally, there are various activities available, such as sports, shopping, and golf, all of which provide great value for money for families and those on a budget. With the possibility that prices might drop during these months, it's an ideal time for a memorable getaway.
- Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: Hotels.com offers travellers boundless opportunities to explore Portlaoise hotel deals. To uncover enticing offers, you may discover more about DealsOpens in a new window or last-minute deals by visiting the designated sections on Hotels.com. You could find that enabling email alerts or push notifications keeps you informed of flash sales, ensuring you don’t miss out on discounted Portlaoise hotels. Additionally, the Smart Shopping tool, available via the app, helps you compare hotel prices and amenities, so if rooms become available or prices drop, you're among the first to know and book your next getaway.
- Be flexible with dates: Prices may fluctuate depending on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so having some flexibility with your travel dates could help you find a more affordable stay in a hotel in Portlaoise. For those seeking a distinctive experience, boutique hotels often provide a more personalised atmosphere and, at times, better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we’ll inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price leans towards the higher end, we may suggest alternative dates that could offer a more favourable rate, helping you to find a better deal.
- Consider your location: Staying closer to major attractions or city centres may provide convenience, but it often comes with increased costs. For more affordable options, consider hotels in less central areas or neighbourhoods, striking a balance between price and accessibility to the places you intend to visit. You might also look into independent hotels situated further out, which are usually more likely to be affordable and can offer a more authentic experience.
