The Reykjavik Residence is an excellent option for staying in Reykjavik. It is located within easy walking distance of the main shops and restaurants. The room was clean and the staff helpful and friendly. Breakfast is left on a tray in the fridge it is quite limited but there's sufficient to start your day off. We were visiting Iceland for the first time, and loved the country, as well as the Residence Hotel. The staff were fantastic, very friendly and willing to help with just about anything. Having a kitchenette in the room was a big plus. The breakfast tray they leave in your room is also really great - definitely enough to keep two hungry people well fed. […] The only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is that when I booked it, the hotel listing advertised a washer/dryer in the units, and we kind of depended on that when we packed changes of clothes. Also, the shower has one of these weird flat setups on the floor, so the bathroom can get flooded with water if the drain runs slow. But despite that I would probably stay there again - it was a really good location for seeing downtown Rekyavik, very close to the Harpa and the shopping street. There is a nightclub across the road, so Friday/Saturday nights do get noisy. But I didn't have any problems falling asleep, although I do wear earplugs to sleep. Excellent service, high standard, very helpful staff, central, clean - generally tip top! Highly recommended. The only disappointment was perhaps the breakfast tray, which we didn't realise we were going to have - we thought we would eat in a small restaurant. We found the staff to be very helpful, the location very good, the room large and comfortable, the street quiet at night and the drapes room darkening. Breakfast was just cereal, milk and OJ in the room but that was fine by us. Parking was free as was wifi. Overall great value for the price

Fabulous suite accommodation! Recently opened so all amenities new and clean. Spacious apartment with wonderful view of the sea and mountains. Staff move between the hotel and suite buildings(owned by the same company) but are there when needed and are extremely helpful. Couldn't of asked for anything g better! Rooms were amazing equipped with everything you need, small kitchen area, flat screen tv with English channels, iPod doc, very modern bathroom and shower was great and well worth getting breakfast which was delivered every morning in a basket! Much to see at walking distance. Good service. We stayed during the week, there was no noise. Breakfast is already in your room the day before, so if you have a plain to catch early in the morning the next day, you can take your breakfast with you. Rooms are very clean and modern furnished. Very spacious bathroom. I would stay here again.

Lovely room with tiny kitchenette, very comfortable bed and a good-sized TV. A wooden spoon and spatula would have been useful though as kitchen utensils were on the basic side. Staff were charming, helpful and friendly, although one person on the desk had trouble booking a local restaurant by phone so we ended up doing it ourselves in the end.

The Reykjavik Residence is a lovely building, both from the outside and inside. We stayed for 3 nights in one of the rooms on the top floor - views over harbour were stunning. So was the standard of accommodation; luxurious, contemporary and clean. We especially liked the breakfast basket in the morning - a selection of breads, cheeses, meats, eggs […] and cereals too. The people at the front desk were always courteous, polite and helpful, especially on Easter Sunday (our first night) where they recommended a place to eat as most were shut. 5 minutes walk to the harbour, cathedral and lovely restaurants so location superb too. I arrived very early in the morning and was greated warmly by staff and told they could arrange an early check in. They gave me directions to a nearby cafe for breakfast and upon return I was able to check in. The rooms are very comfortable and modern with a full kitchen. The "hotel" was more like an apartment; huge living room, 2 bedroom, kitche, bathroom with washer/dryer. Very relaxing, couch, beverages and snacks available. Walking distance to waterfront and walking street with tons of quaint shops and restaurants.

We really enjoyed staying at the Reykjavik Residence hotel as it had a small kitchen attached. They provided coffee, cereal, salt and pepper...the basics. There is a grocery store within walking distance and so we bought food there for breakfast, to make a sack lunch and to have items to cook for dinner. We were in the new suites farther down the main street towards the harbour. So hotel was very new and very clean. Staff were extremely helpful and pleasant.

We stayed at the new Residence Suites, about 100m away from the original Residence Hotel. The room conditions are perfect. They have just opened for business, and there were some works and drilling going on very early in the morning, like 8:30am. That's why the 3 rating for the condition and upkeep of the hotel.

Upon arriving at the hotel, we were informed that our room was at the Reykjavik Residence "Suites" which is about a 3 minute walk from the Reykjavik Residence Hotel. Our flight got in really early and they let us leave our bags at the front desk until check in time. The Suites is at a converted house that had opened just the week before. It was noticeable […] upon entering the house. There was still construction going on and our rooms were not fully stocked. The tv in the bedroom had not yet been installed and perhaps some kitchen supplies were missing. I think the staff there were also trying to get adjusted as they had some trouble finding things. They also worked on our shower while we were out and asked us to wait to use it, but provided us with a complementary bottle of wine for the inconvenience. Overall, the suite was clean and comfortable. We would stay here again. It was within walking distance to the major attractions in downtown Reykjavik. A note of caution would be that the hotel is across the street from a bar and it can get quite noisy on Friday and Saturday night, but the rest of the week was pretty quiet at night. We stayed here in the 1st week in March 2003 and were one of the first to stay in their brand new building which is on the same road as their existing building just a few minutes walk away. We booked via Expedia which was cheaper than booking through the Hotel direct. Believe the hype - this hotel is up there with the best. We had a 1 bedroom suite […] which comprised of a large living room with kitchenette, bathroom with a very deep tub and 'wet room' shower, and a dedicated bedroom. Large screen Samsung LCD TVs in the Bedroom and Living room with over 500 channels and fast free WiFi. The room is huge and is extremely modern and well furnished. I'd compare it to the some of the best suites I've stayed in in Las Vegas. Location is excellent and is just 1 street away from the main retail shopping street with all the restaurants and shops you could want. Remember to ask for your Global Tax refund which you can claim back at the Airport for items over 4000ISK. Staff in the hotel were amazing. Super friendly, really polite and courteous and nothing was too much trouble. We booked a private airport shuttle via the hotel via email ahead of time. All went smooth and according to plan. We stayed in the "Suites" part of this hotel which is in a separate building in the same road (number 21 instead of 45). It looked like this was a recent addition to the hotel as everything was brand new and some of the rooms were still being finished (not that this affected our stay at all). The bathroom was more of a "wetroom" style and we felt that considering how large it was it would have been nice to have a bathtub as well as shower. The shower was fantastic but it was impossible to avoid getting water all over the bathroom floor even with the shower curtain. Location was great - very central and easy to walk everywhere we needed to go. On the Friday and Saturday nights there was a bit of noise from the road and people leaving bars after a night out. Also our bath had a shower but no shower holder so you would have to constantly hold the shower in your hand. Nice, large room with kitchenette (basement, room 103, facing road). Was a bit apprehensive regarding noise but it turned out to be very quiet! Staff ever so friendly and helpful. Nice building in excellent location, close to downtown and only a few minutes to the bay and harbour. We really enjoyed our stay!

We had a great four night stay in this hotel at a fantastic price through a winter discount on hotels.com. Hotel is in a fantastic location 2 mins to sea front and a few mins to main shopping and bars. I would recommend the breakfast option which was excellent for a continental style breakfast. This included cornflakes, hard boiled eggs, variety of […] breads, cheese and jam/marmalade placed in your fridge each day. Milk, Juice, teabags, filtered coffee also provided in your room. Well equipped kitchenette which allows a fantastic relaxed start to each morning. This is really an Apartotel rather than a hotel though it did have an excellent 24 hour reception with very helpful staff who will phone and book anything for you. Fantastic alternative to a full-service hotel. We booked 3 Superior rooms which were very spacious and were located at the front of the main hotel building. The only small niggle was the amount of noise over the Saturday night from traffic and people visiting a club opposite which can't be controlled by the hotel. There was another separate block of rooms belonging to this hotel on the small road at the back of the hotel - not sure if this is where the standard rooms are located but they would be quieter. Recently stayed at this hotel and found it wonderful. It is ideally situated and within walking distance of the main shops and bars. The staff were extremely helpful and the room was modern and very clean. My only small criticism with our particular room was that the bed was directly under the windowsill so you could not have a head board and it was […] not easy to open/close the curtains and in the bathroom there was a large long window directly opposite the toilet and it only had a net curtain - no blind - so you felt a bit exposed if the light was on, which it often was at a time of year when there is only a few hours of daylight. That said, it would not stop me staying there again and I got used to streaking past the window from the shower to the bedroom. The small kitchen area is very useful and as some of the restaurants in the centre can be expensive so it was very handy to be able to occasionally grab something from the nearby supermarket or warm a takeaway pizza in the microwave oven provided. Facilities in superior studio were excellent for self catering short stay. Staff extremely helpful and this aparthotel is very nicely furnished and warm in the Icelandic winter. Location is excellent for walking into Reykjavik centre and driving access to ring road for touring other areas. Super stay and would use again.

We just returned from Reykjavik following a fantastic stay at the Residence hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful dealing with all our enquiries and helping us arrange our excursions and travel back to the airport. The room was large and clean with very efficient daily room service which never interrupted a day you were having a lie in after a […] late night trip to see the Northern lights! We had breakfast included in the price of our stay and were really pleased with the selection of breads, cheeses, and jams delivered to our room and placed in the fridge to be enjoyed at our leisure the following morning a fantastic idea that meant we did not need to work our days around when a breakfast buffet was open. The hotel was in a great location (close to the center, Iceland excursions bus stop, supermarket, bakery and banks), the rooms were a good size and having a kitchen is really convenient (especially during Christmas when everything is closed). It felt comfortable after a few days staying there, almost like being at home - they even include the basics […] like tea, coffee, cereal, milk, etc. which are refilled when needed. All the staff were very helpful and friendly, it is a shame that the one we saw the most was a fairly miserable lady who wasn't keen on helping us out at times. On the last day, she made us feel guilty for wanting her to call and book us a coach to the airport. She may have been from Poland, but that does not excuse her from knowing little about Reykjavik and avoiding giving advice on things to see and companies to use. There was another man from abroad who was knowledgable and gave good recommendations, so there is no excuse. It may seem like a small complaint, but she made us really uncomfortable staying there. Excellent location and lovely hotel. Breakfast provided everyday was great and it was also good to have the kitchen facilities. There was a slight confusion with booking the airport transfer time which meant we were late getting to the airport hence the (4), but the staff were great otherwise. Would definitely stay here again.

We the family of three adults stayed in the two rooms apartment. It can easily accommodate another adult. The apartment is nice and warm throughout day and night. There is a well equipped kitchenette which is ideally suited for all day breakfast preparation which is included in the package.I love the good size bathroom with washer dryer to do a little […] needed laundry. The setback is the apartment is a penthouse, almost three stories high without a lift and that means some help may be needed to lug up your large luggage but the staffs are very helpful. Only one toilet may mean some inconvenience for 3 or 4 persons to share. Really nice apartment hotel. Staff were very helpful and friendly helping us book tours and sort out a problem with our Flybus pick-up. Easy to find cafes etc. within a few minutes walk from the hotel. Breakfast was good. We highly recommend this hotel.
