Snow Queen Lodge - แอสเปน

We had a wonderful 2 night stay 3rd week of October this year. Bit of confusion when first arrived as no-one was on site to greet us and we were tired after our drive. A note had been stuck on the door for us, but I only read my (mis-spelled) name and thought it was a coincidence the owner had the same name! "M" the onsite housekeeper was there a few […] minutes later, by which time we had read the note and found our room. We had Good Luck, which opened to ground level and had a small fridge and TV, but few channels (I wasn't there to watch telly). Heating worked well and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was taken to order the day before and appeared to accommodate most requests, incudling flexibility with time (normally 8-9am), but this may have been because we were the only ones there during the quiet post-fall, pre-ski season. M was a lovely lady, if you like talking first thing in the morning! She was happy to give us some recommendations about places to eat and things to do in and around Aspen, and also told us about some of the famous folks in those parts, which meant we spent the whole time celebrity spotting,without success. I was very jealous to hear Jon Pertwee ("Dr Who". Hey, I'm English!) had stayed there. Aspen itself is a lovely little town, plenty of shops and bars to keep you amused for a day or two. The restaurants we visited served pretty decent quality food, but you have to do your homework to find the decently priced ones in Aspen. Maroon Bells is a short drive away, and if you catch the sun right so that the peaks reflect in the water, you can't fail to get a great photo for the album. We drove over Independence Pass and visited Leadville on the trip down. If M will have us back (she knows why!), we'd be more than happy to visit again, in time for the summer flowers.
