Overall, it may be a good value for the money primarily because of the location and proximity to downtown. I don't like the shared bathroom though.

for $306, and a two night stay, i think i got what i paid for. The breakfast wasn't what i thought it would be, but what ever. As long as there was free coffee and tea for me and my mates, it was all good. If you're looking for a cheap priced place to stay close to the city and some pubs, the Y hotel is a good place to stay.

Location and cleanliness of room were good, but the shower never produced any hot water. We asked for a double bed, but got 2 singles.

/staff were very friendly and helpful, room was clean but very basic. Shared bathroom and toilet were clean and OK. Worst part was automatic air conditioner you couldnt turn off blowing noisy cold air over the two beds by the door. OK for a cheap overnight stay only.

Great location, short walk distance to Opera-house, central station and Chinatown etc.. Arrived at 10am, official check in was 2pm, frustrating couldn't get in the room earlier. so decided walk around in the town. Back to hotel after 1pm but still unable to check in. Private and spotless room, good location and free breakfast for the price was quite remarkable. Alarm clock woke me at 12:15 am, but can't blame the hotel for that. Would recommend to anyone visiting Sydney.

Great location, very clean and tidy and really good value for money. All staff super friendly generally but cafe staff seemed a bit to rushed to be friendly.

Best location for that side of the city's events, nightlife, restaurants. Triple Delux room was great for the price. Clean room, mattress-pillow firm & comfortable. Fridge & safe in wardrobe and awkward to get to. Showering at popular times meant hot water and water pressure was intermittent. Staff very helpful. Be ready to stop the car and use their […] trolley for luggage into baggage room as carpark is too far if you need to carry. Baggage room is locked and safe but not "managed" so dont leave valuable items there. TV but no DVD player, no room phone. Ice, laundry room, books available on 3rd floor. At this price, there is little or no competition I could find for this location. It is right on Hyde Park and so easy walking distance to Sydney sights. It is also convenient for rail and bus links. The air conditioning in the room did not work. We had it on all night to cool but did not cool at all. This was after advising the staff who attempted to fix.

The staff were nice and helpful. Be aware that the sliding doors shown in room photos don't open enough to access the patio area and that the shuttle 'provided' between the airport and hotel isn't free (as implied on the airport hotels website).

A television in the room would have made such a big improvement. Lockers please remove. There were no keys anyway and they looked really school like, upset decore no end.I didn't mind but my husband hated it and we had a bad night because he blamed me. Wished I'd have spent an extra $50. and got somewhere decent.

We were shocked when we arrived and found out we were staying at a YMCA. I went back through the hotel discription and that information isn't listed. I also booked a room for our friends that was traveling wth us, and needless to say, I was pretty embarassed. Thank heaven we both had our own bath rooms. I always try to stay here when in Sydney. Fab location, breakfast included - very cute wait staff too - rooms are great, both en suite and shared ammenities. Brilliant.

Hotel was expensive for what you get with respect to USA standards, but great location and clean enough. Be ware it's a shared bathroom, though that was clean, and I never had to wait for a shower or toilet... I would stay there again.

I have stayed at the Y Hotel Hyde Park several times. It's a basic hotel, but has everything you need in the best location in the city. I highly recommend it if you are going to be exploring the city and not spending much time in the room. Close to Museum Station and a few blocks from the monorail and major shopping areas. The room was good and had the basics. It would have been good to have some water so I didn't need to go to the shared bathroom to fill the kettle! Breakfast was good value.

Very convenent and econmical place to stay, Staff helpfull and communative,Clean aminiteties , rooms very clean , beds comfortable, sound minumal, Only negative is off loading car is difficult in front of hotel.

Not enough shared bathrooms. AirCon in room didn't seem to work very well so room was quite hot. Had trouble with the electric key to get into the room. Full breakfast was good. Internet is reasonably priced.

This hotel is good value for money for what you get and where it is. The hotel is getting a little dated, but the rooms were kept quite clean, and the room was comfortable.

Good location. Called he hotel leaving an important message on their answering service. Was told the next day that they never listened to their messages - not very impressive. Otherwise helpful staff. Clean bathroom. No extra luxury.

The location is great with the free bus loop within a block and IGA store and restaurants and taverns nearby. Hyde park is across the road and is worth seeing.
