Overheated room and noise coming from adjacent rooms and the corridor made it difficult to sleep. Staff were not very professional. The hotel itself is pretty grand building and the rooms were clean and decently-sized, but my impression was that they are now coasting and not bothering to invest in the (probably rather expensive) renovations that would […] make this a truly pleasant place to stay in. Couple of extra notes: - The restaurant in the basement was delightful. - If you're going in the off-season, it may be worth it to just walk in; we didn't inquire but judging by the lowest advertised prices on the premises, they would have been cheaper than what we got on this site. The staff was very courteous and friendly and went out of their way to resolve one issue that I had related to hotels.com. The staff is top notch, and it was really great to stay in such a historic site.

Thought the restaurant was great, the room was a bit small, comforter in room needed to be replaced. Good value overall, friendly staff but could use some attention to detail. Old creeky floors and history of the inn were interesting. Was just passing thru and stopped for a one night stay with significant other so it sufficed.

Very quaint and a wonderful feeling of "Home"

My husband and I had a wonderful experience at the Thayer Inn. We are an active couple who enjoys the outdoors, comfortable surroundings, and good places to eat (even though we have food allergies). The rooms are comfortable and clean. The bed was so comfortable it felt like our own. Each morning my husband would wake and head downstairs for the contenential breakfast and bring tea back to the room for me. We would head out for a long walk around the river bed (behind the Inn and over the covered bridge). A few times we ate at the diner down the street and it was excellent (the diner is part of the famous 50 diners in 50 states). We also had dinner at the Thayers Inn and that too was great. We visited and purchased candy at the "Worlds longest candy counter" and that was awesome! We visited the book store in town, ate at another local restraraunt (which was an old train station) and that was delicious too. Not what I expected, the rooms were steaming hot with no thermostat, I slept with the windows open in February. The bedspread was stained, I truly was afraid of bedbugs. The breakfast was horrendous, stale English muffins and hard bagels..Don't stay here unless it's a must...

Overall the Thayers was fantastic, we checked in late but the staff was very nice. The inn is gorgeous truly a testament to how things used to be. The only issues we did have was that there were things behind the dresser from a previous guest, and the restraint downstairs was very loud until after 11pm. The hotel is an historical landmark in Littleton, NH. If you are looking for modern, this is not the place. The bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in in a hotel. However, it is so high I had to use a chair to get into it! I am only 5 feet tall! I am not sure if the place is Handicap Accessible. I had to use the front stair way to get to […] the second floor where my room was. If there is an elevator, I didn't see one. During the winter there is no Continental breakfast served during the week, but there can be coffee if you ask for it. There is no coffee I. The rooms though there was a small refrigerator there. There is a diner just up the street and a Dunkin' Donuts across the street. Did not try the restaurant in the hotel, though I have heard good reviews of it. Nice place. The staff was just doing their job and at a minimum at that. Will not reccommend this place to anyone nor will I ever stay there again. I should of just gon a little further up or down the road and fund a regular motel....

This was one of the best hotels we were in during our New England journey. The building, the furniture, the cleanliness of the rooms are perfect.

Wasn’t expecting much, because the price was very reasonable. but my stay was a pleasant surprise. Rooms were very comfortable and clean.

Very interesting historic hotel centered in the middle of the main business district of Littleton, NH. Everything one would need in this regional (White Mountains area) town is within walking distance. No elevator but what do you expect from an 1843 hotel! Family rooms are a great deal if traveling with children.

The bones are solid and the hotel is an interesting historic relic. Unfortunately it is in need of updates. The good news.. the beds were comfortable and the family "suite" was good for parents with two older kids.

We had a fantastic stay at Thayer's Inn. The staff was courteous and professional and our small classic room was cute and clean. The Inn is steeped in history, and we enjoyed seeing the gallery of artwork and news clippings, peering into two museum-style rooms with mannequins behind glass, taking in the view from the cupola, and sitting on the outdoor […] balcony. Our room had a portfolio waiting filled with local information, from dining choices to local hikes to town history. The only complaint I could make is about hot water -- both nights the shower would intermittently spray very hot water, probably from other rooms using their toilets, sinks, or showers. Very comfortable room and very clean, quite a surprise from the rundown condition of the exterior. Hotel is reminiscent of "Fawlty Towers" from the british comedy as the floors are all uneven even within the room. We were satisfied with the hotel and would recommend it.

very historical!!!

Upon check-in I waited at the front desk for at least 10 minutes for someone to arrive, in fact everytime I came to the front desk...no one was there..and on 2 occasions when they were on the first floor...the individual was laying on the couch in the TV room watching TV, this is in the middle of the day. Parking was horrible, and although there was […] a drop-off in front of the hotel it was covered in a 2 foot wall of snow....for the 2 nights and 3 days I stayed it was never shovel out to allow you to drop-off...you had to climb over this bank of snow, that is very poor service. I have never stayed in a hotel anywhere in the world..ever...that did not make your bed & bring fresh towels in the morning...that was not the case here...not service...and you had to ask for fresh towels...if you could find someone. At the price for these rooms...service could have been much better. Very poor all around. I would not recommended or stay again. Great location and easy access. Staff was extremely helpful. Historical flavor was enjoyable, and room comfortable. No breakfast or coffee early mornings (during the week), but plenty of places nearby to cover early morning departures. This was a stop on the way to Jay Peak and other nearby ski areas.

Great location and a gem of a historic inn. The rooms are in desperate need of updating but the price is a steal. The restaurant is excellent and upscale. I would definitely go here again but would stay in a two room suite or studio next time. The price for these larger rooms are still reasonable when compared to chain hotels. Very nice old home style hotel. Great service and I would stay there again if ever in the area. This was a very nice hotel in an old home that has a lot of character and is right on the historic main street. The service was impeccable and very caring to my needs. If there, be sure to visit Bailiwicks in the basement for fantastic food and drink!

I stayed here for one night with my wife while vacationing in New England. Thayers Inn is centrally located in Littleton. It's just a short walk from several shops and good restaurants, including the one below the hotel. My only complaint is that our room got very hot at night, making it difficult to sleep. I don't know whether I could have adjusted […] the heater in the room, but I didn't see any instructions and didn't ask the next day since we were checking out anyways. I ended up having to crack open a window to let the cold air offset the heater. Otherwise, the accommodations were good. Parking behind the Inn, wireless internet, and a continental breakfast were included with our rate. The Thayers Inn harkens back to the day when life moved much slower. Located on Main Street in Littleton, NH, everything is within a stone's throw. The room was comfortable and clean and we would stay there again. Perfect for a 2-3 day lazy summer day vacation spot to lay your head.

Plenty of charm, well located in the middle of the city, very friendly staff. The steak house restaurant served the best steak we had in a very long time. We will certainly go again.

Nice, quaint hotel, built around 1850 and preserved in that antique, homey style. The office clerk was very polite and helpful. The hotel is located in the middle of town and there are a variety of restaurants nearby.

The Thayers Inn is definitely a funky spot, but with loads of charm. I stayed in a room where everything was at a slight angle, but it was clean and comfortably furnished.
