Elm Crest Guest House - Huddersfield

Comfy, clean and friendly. Great breakfast.

I chose this guest house because of the good reviews and low price. The cost was certainly low but the standard generally was much less than I had expected. The good points first: A warm and helpful attitude from the host. I especially appreciated the (free) scone that was left out for late arriving guests - very thoughtful. However: I found the room […] temperature fine when I checked in, but the heating was off all night and barely warm when I got up at 7.30. There was no hot water - the host did offer profuse apologies, but I would have liked a wash in warm water when I got up if not a shower. The room had a mild smell of damp, possibly related to the large single pained window right by the bed that had collected condensation. Overall, ignoring the hot water which was surely a one-time accident, I would give this place a 1.5 - 2 star rating relative to similar places I have stayed at recently. I'm sure it was lovely in the 1970's but the current competition has moved on. Very friendly and warm welcome. The breakfast was excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

We stayed for a night at ELm Crest. Very satisfying experience. Warmly welcomed. Big and nicely done room and of course very good breakfast.

Lovely stay at this friendly, welcoming Guest House near to Huddersfield town centre. Run by an enthusiastic couple who offered tea and cakes on arrival and cooked a wholesome and delicious Full English Breakfast. If you're looking for a comfortable, relaxing, hassle free stay, close to Huddersfield town centre, then this is place for you!

I was welcomed to Elm Crest with a smile, and a very welcome offer of coffee ,scones and chocolate cake. Chas and Sue were extremely friendly and as I had never visited Huddersfield before,they gave me helpful directions and information. The guest house is a beautiful old building, it has all the original features, wooden staircases and high ceilings, […] and has a really cosy feel . The bedrooms have all you need for a comfortable stay , plus little extras i.e. a few chocolates . What more do you need !! It was a very nice 2 night stay, albeit in sad circumstances. What we saw of Huddersfield has told us that we want to return again one day to further explore the area. The proprietors Chas and Sue were so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. We look forward to our next visit.

I was only at the hotel for 2 nights for business but out of the various places i have stayed this has been the most friendly, cleanest and comfortable of them all! I really cant recommend it enough and the owners who clearly work so hard to maintain the high standards are a pleasure to speak to no matter what time of day you catch them.

A beautiful guest house operated by an extremely friendly couple. Not square and sterile like big hotels (which is the way I prefer it). Room wasn't huge but cozy and bathroom facilities were adequate. Unrestricted WIFI.
