The room had a bad smell we checked out at 2:00am because the smell was so bad

It wasn't really a cozy room. Good for an overnight stay.

I would like for you to see for yourself I am adding pictures of the bed that was in Room 107 I really don't know how many people has gone to this place and feel good about staying there. The side of the bed had blood on the mattress. Do I want my kids staying in something like this. It was the a very dirty place to stay. Bad customer service.and horrible beds

We enjoyed our stay very much. I am concerned about your tubs....they are slippery. An accident and law-suit waiting to happen. A bath mat would solve the problem. A couple of extra things would be nice: a shower cap and an ironing board and iron at office.

Its nothing to write home about: Dirty, run down and lots of noise fronm the cars on the road right outside your room. But I guess you get what you pay for.......

I left early so I didn't get the free breakfast. Started to late.

Clean hotel; could have used some hangars in the closet (none) and soap that is actually usable, but otherwise it was a fine, basic place to sleep.

This place is horrible, avoid it at all costs!!!!

This Motel needs too be remodeled or just needs to have major up keep done to it!!!! the shower head looked like it was going to fall off it, the room stunk oder wise and just in general, the sheets i think where never washed it was just gross

I would not stay here again. It is true--you get what you pay for. It is very old and run down. The chairs were very stained, and I didn't feel comfortable sitting in them. It was not well maintained. The baseboards in the bathroom were cracked and split. I couldn't tell if the underneath was the color of the wood or black mold. Motel was located perfectly for my stay in St. George. Very easy to find. Front office smelled horrible but the room was good. The beds are pretty hard, but, still got rest that was needed. Television was good with plenty of cable channels to choose from. I would stay there again.

My room had no less than a bakers dozen owl paintings, homemade wall decorations, and kitchen accessories. I didn't know whether to be fascinated or really creeped out. Given that the hotel is super old-school and reminiscent of an 80's horror film, my mind was flashing back to all the hotel horror movies I've seen. The beds were really hard. It was right off of Saint George Blvd so it was close and convient to everything.

When I log on to hotels.com to book a hotel and select the drop down "price low to high" and book the cheapest motel on the list to save money I am not surprised when there is no valet parking, the place is ancient, the t.v's resemble the first ones ever made (though they had ESPN which is all I need!), the service does not impress me nor tick me off, […] and the continental breakfast is sub-par! When the motel room costs around the same price as renting out a campsite for one night WHAT DO YOU EXPECT? Though the bathroom did have an outhouse feel to it haha. But I would say this is exactly what I was anticipating and exactly what I wanted for a one night stay in beautiful st George for a biking trip! If you are expecting or need luxury than scroll down a bit on the list and do not book the cheapest motel on here!!!!!! The motel was shady. The internet did not work. Bed was not comfortable. Breakfast was next door. Only had cereal and waffles (they were good however). Luckily this was only a quick stop to sleep on our way through town.

I decided to take a chance on this hotel because of the price. It wouldn't have been so bad, I don't think, if the room hadn't had that nasty old hotel smell. Stayed in associated Coronado. Cheap, old, remodeled, clean, convenient, tile kitchenette, large rooms, firm King bed, plenty of hot water. I'll stay here again.

The room stunk, the toilet was filthy. I would NOT stay here ever again!

If you're used to staying at the Four Seasons, The Sands may not be your cup of tea... but what are you doing in St. George anyway? This place was very comfortable, easy to get to off I-15, and very, VERY inexpensive. The rooms are clean, ours had a wonderful stone shower, the cable TV worked just fine, and the bed (there were 2 we only needed 1) was […] comfortable and warm... what more can you ask for? Other reviewers led me to believe that there was something wrong with the place... obviously the Four Seasons crowd. I had a difficult time using my key card and the room carpet was'nt very clean. Also the room heater is in a very difficult area and hard to reach to adjust the heat temp which was only allowed up to 80 degrees and was very loud noise. I was not allowed to make long distance calls, and there was no computer in my room.

Ran out of campgrounds at Zion National Park so unfortunately had to drive all the way back to St G to find a place to stay. This motel was kind of shady in appearance on the outside but the rooms were rather comfortable. We had a refrigerator in our room which helps. Free wifi is always good. Great location. It is an older hotel but for a 1 night stay it did the job wonderfully. I would stay again.

It was cheap. The room had been remodeled recently, not quite completed. But the location and general feeling was scary.

A good place to stay if you just want sleep and not be pampered. Lots of restaurants within walking distance. Not classy but adequate

The hotel site advertised an indoor pool, outdoor pool and hot tub. Also said they offered a free breakfast. There was no indoor pool, no hot tub and they did not offer any type of breakfast !! The person at the desk did not speak english and so it did no good to complain. The room was dirty, there was an opened shampoo container in the shower . We (two parents with two girls) stayed for one night to split the trip between Colorado and San Diego. There is nothing wonderful about the minimal front office, and overall the hotel is old and basic, but the room itself was very good on the essentials, and for the low price it is a very good option. Soap, shampoo, and fresh towels were provided. The room overall was clean and had no bad smell. Though it was obviously not like new construction, I did not see peeling paint or any other neglected maintenance in the room. The A/C was very effective, with a digital thermostat, which is much better than the typical hot/cold selector, so you don't wake up hot or freezing. We didn't have any noise problems. Our parking space was right in front of our front door (not up stairs or down a corridor), so coming and going was easy. The location is close to the highway and places to eat. Very disappointing. I guess I got what I paid for though since it was extremely affordable.

When you read reviews that say stay away from something. I would normally chalk that up to a persons bias, or a bad day they were having. However in the case of the Sands Motel, it is truly the worst hotel I have been in and they are many other reviewers that echo that sediment. It was a horrible room, paint on the walls peeling off, bad smell, stained […] bedding with 2x4's holding it all up sticking out, that could easily hurt someone while getting in bed. Mice running around outside the door, cockroaches in the bathroom. No sink or mirror in the bathroom, these were on the other side of the wall from the shower. Badly stained chairs. The door locks did not work. So overall, it was pretty much the worst motel I could imagine in all respects. I would not be surprised if I or my family picked up some kind of disease from our stay there. It was only the fact that we got there late at night that prevented us from getting a different hotel. If you aren't fussy this is a cheap place to sleep. The bed and bathroom were clean, but the carpet was old and stained. Bathroom has been updated more recently than the rest of the room.

It is a very old hotel. The beds were not on any frame that I could see. Very wobbly. The carpet needs to be replaced. I couldn't figure out how to use the air conditioning or the heat. OLD BUT GOOD FOR A ONE NIGHT DEAL. FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL STAFF

The Sands is a real dump with pealing paint, broken mattresses and beds, doors that don't close, lights that don't work, front door in need of replacement with no safety lock, front desk clerk who can't speak english, etc., etc. Would definitely not recommend to anyone at any price.

This Motel is awful. The customer service was terrible and my room was disgusting. It was so bad, I drove from Colorado (10.5 hours) and could not sleep, so I ended up driving another 6 hours home at 12:30 in the morning. I recommend that you do NOT stay here. You will leave feeling like you have bugs crawling on you. Horrible experience.

We were on the road so we were looking for something affordable, just for the night. The staff was not expecting us and tried to up-sell us a more expensive room. The AC was very old and made a terrible noise, to the point that we had to turn it off. The bathroom was very small and dirty. The shower was literally falling apart. Our bed was very uncomfortable […] and the sheets were dirty. We asked for a non-smoking room but our room had a terrible smell. The parking lot is way too small. You better don't have a SUV if you want to find your doors intact when you'll wake up. Our room was disgusting. The carpet was very dirty. This motel is right off the freeway. It is a little old but was super reasonably priced. We just slept there and ate breakfast. The breakfast was yummy waffles.

Perfect for a place to stay as you're passing through town.

I chose the Sands because I had very little money. The manager at the front desk didn't seem to be expecting me and tried to get me to upgrade to a room with a larger bed even though I was there alone. The parking lot is absurdly small, so don't plan on parking near your room. My room was more like a residential motel with a kitchenette, but I wouldn't […] feel comfortable preparing any food there. The heater is in a closet that you have to keep open to have heat. Despite the online promise of free Internet service and continental breakfast, these were nonexistent. The room wasn't necessarily dirty, but it looked like a very old apartment in need of a makeover. There was a hole in the ceiling the size of a pipe just outside the bathroom door and I stuffed tissue in it out of paranoia. Windows, blinds, and curtains had also been left open. We picked this hotel because it was cheap and we weren't staying very long. The floors were nasty and there wasn't a tub- only a shower. But the beds were comfortable. Would only stay here if I needed a place to sleep for 8 hours. I would never stay for longer than that!

Stay away from this hotel. Upon check in the hostess barely spoke any English, and was extremely rude. When I finally did get everything situated and we got to our room it was horrible. In what was supposed to be a non smoking room our bedspreads had huge cigarette holes in them, the room stuck of smoke, and there were ashes in the bathroom that had […] not been cleaned up. In the entire room there was ONE accessible outlet to plug in your electronics. It is 2010 people, you need more than one outlet for todays traveler.
