The hotel was clean and the neighborhood is fine too. Hotel staff didn't seem too engaged with their job.

The hotel was located right between Grass Valley and Nevada City, with really easy freeway access but no noise. It's located next to the Highway Patrol station, so it's probably pretty safe too. The shopping center across the street also made it easy to get coffee, breakfast and groceries. Boy did I make a mistake booking this motel. The rate for 4 nights was not cheap so I expected more. The parking outside the room was already occupied so we couldn't park in front of the room, the door was warped, upon entering the room the smell of mildew and cigarette smoke was overwhelming and it was a non smoking room. The carpet was filthy and […] should have been removed vs cleaned, there was a sliding glass door with ratty curtains which did not provide security for my belongings when I wasn't occupying the room. Would not want to stay there for any length of time because of the smell so we would have to opt to leave our belongings in the car. The bed was not comfortable to sit on as the mattress was of poor quality. In the bathroom the toilet smelled and the bolt caps were on the floor and the towels looked like my grandmother's mix and match towels vs a quality hotel. We tried going to the store across the street and purchased candles and lysol, but that did not help. Needless to say we checked out the same day we checked in. Cannot comment on the free breakfast, wi-fi, cable television - the only positive thing was the microwave and small fridge were clean. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. We would definitely recommend this hotel to our friends and relatives. The front desk was friendly and helpful--suggesting places to eat and giving directions. The breakfast was filling and tasty, the room was very comfortable, and the location visually pleasant and convenient to road access.

Excellent service. Big Clean Rooms. Comfortable Beds. Would stay there again.

I enjoyed my stay as always, they are very friendly and went out of their way to make me comfortable. The breakfest is very good.

We wanted to check in early as we we're attending a memorial service. Even though it was 2 hours past check out, the room was still being occupied by the previous guests, who were allowed to check out late. I was offered another room in an area near the freeway, which was described as not a quiet, unlike the room they had assigned us, which was in a […] quiet area. I declined the other room and said I would wait until the assigned room became available, and come back later. The room they gave us had a terrible smell, and it was one of three older rooms. I was curious about this the next day, because no one else occupied the other 2 rooms. Why could'nt they have let us have one of the other rooms that we're not occupied. I guess when you book through this website, some hotels only save a room or two to accomidate at the reduced price. We have stayed at this motel severalk times, while visiting the gold country. The staff there is very helpful, and the breakfast they serve, while typical for this type of accomodation, is alway hot and freshly made. We will continue to book here when we are in the area.

My family and I stayed here for Thanksgiving weekend and was pleasantly surprised to find the rooms very clean and a good size. They let us check in early which was nice after our long road trip. If you are visiting Nevada City, and are weirded out by the bed and breakfasts, then BW is for you. Good price, clean room, comfortable bed. Certainly not the Four Seasons, but a solid value

Pool was not heated, breakfast was bad. Many items gone, and frech toast was hard. Only eggs were hard boiled. Bed was not comfortable.

Rerally enjoyed my two night stay at the Best Western Gold Country. Friendly service and well kept rooms....I will return!

This hotel has all the attributes of a large luxury hotel, with none of the hassles, and has a great staff. The breakfast changed daily, and was fresh and delicious. This was the most peaceful, quiet stay we have had in a Best Western Hotel, in spite of its location off of the freeway and near a shopping center. The room was very clean and well appointed, everything in good repair. The mattress was comfortable. We felt safe because the Highway Patrol has a quiet office right next door. In three nights we heard no […] sirens or noise from there at all. The adjacent shopping centers have all the essentials as well as some great specialty shops so we didn't have to go far to get what needed. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. My only disappointment was that the hot tub still was not working and closed off. And there is a dying tree by the pool that drops debris and needs to go. went to a music festival there and we were tired by the time we arrived at the hotel. It was clean and most of all it was very comfortable! In the morning the dining room was very busy but they kept the food coming so we didn't run out. Very happy with our stay!

We've stayed here every year for the past eight years while attending an annual music festival. The Gold Country Inn is always clean and comfortable and also a good value. It is close to eateries and stores which is convenient. We will be back again next year.

Like another reviewer we were disappointed that the pool and spa were closed for renovation (great that they are making improvements but we believed we should have been notified when booking). We were favorably impressed by this hotel's value for the money. The continental breakfast is a great time and money saver, and the food and coffee is continuously replenished. Their pool is being remodeled. This was not noted on this website, and we were very disappointed to discover this upon checkin.

The picture of the motel looked good on the net. It was a little more than we usually pay, but we wanted a nice pool to swim in and they said they had a "full breakfast" and "evening reception". The pool was broken, the spa was broken so we couldn't swim (in hot July), the evening reception was no longer, and the breakfast, although pretty good was […] not what I would consider a "full breakfast". We stay at this hotel at least once a year and it never disappoints. Very clean and wonderful staff. My only frustration was the wifi this trip. It was very slow and kept loosing it. We will be back in Oct.

Had a great 4th of July weekend visiting family. This was the perfect place for some of us to stay. Would definitely go again :)

It was very nice, safe, clean, and convenient. The air conditioner was rather loud which one member of our party did not like. Also, it seemed that a smoker had been in there recently (but we are extra sensitive). Overall it was fine.

Very nice hotel and extremely well kept. The room was CLEAN and everything worked. We would return and I highly recommend it for an overnight stay.

Room & staff were nice. However, the outlet in the bathroom wasn't working, and the TV sound was so muddy it was hard to understand the dialog at times. However, I didn't go there to watch TV-everything else was great.

We enjoyed our stay during a holiday weekend when the hotel was packed, yet still quiet. There is a gas station about a block away with excellent coffee, although there is also coffee in the lobby. The staff was courtesy and professional. It was very clean; my room was extremely spacious. Came with a microwave and refrigerator. Adjacent to police station, grocery store, starbucks and restaurants. Very quiet. I'd stay there again.

We are very satisfied in recent stay in this hotel. We got quiet room with nice bathroom. In the morning we got small breakfast serve until 10 AM. Hotel is easy to find and have convenient location.

We were very comfortable in this Best Western. The location across the street from a strip shopping mall with a Safeway was very convenient and the setting was lovely. Second time at this location. Internet access is pathetic. Always logging you off. Starts at 11.0 Mbps and an then goes down to 1.0 or 2.0 Mbps. Not worth staying here if you need the internet. Managment did not seem concerned, "well it works fine on my Ipod here in the lobby"

This Best Western was great! Very clean room, bathroom was spotless, convenient location. Amazing continental breakfast and extremely friendly staff (the desk clerk even remembered that it was my girlfriends birthday!!) The only reason I gave this hotel a 4 instead of 5 was that the internet was very slow (could probably be solved by using password […] protection) and there was no HBO/Showtime which is unusual these days. Very nice stay. Located among some shopping centers if you don't miond that. There's a nice bakery/coffee house in the shopping area across the street if you want to upscale your breakfast.

Fine except for noisy pump hooked up to a hose to drain water made for a bad night of sleep. Also breakfast room was small for the number of guests. The price was a good value.
